Sorry guys i just need to vent my frustrations.I try to comment on everyone's thread ,be it a newbie or regular member, weather it be armor,ships,aircraft,sci-fi or anything else.I noticed when i started my thread in modern armor members would say count me in,but when i started posting they just seem to vanish. Also noticed members comment on certain threads and skip over others. Is it because their not interested in that build? It's just frustrating that i take the time to post my work in progress and just have few members comment on it while others skip over it or look in and not comment on it. Again sorry guys, just had to get this out.Hope i didn't create any hard feelings

Hey Leon!! No worries brotha'! I can't keep up with everything myself and this would just be looking in on threads let alone trying to comment on all! There are so many posts, it's not easy! Using the 'Recent Threads' button there are 3 or four pages sometime all within a couple hours. Some used the Home page to navigate but might lurk in other genre typically and merely get caught up in other threads. I have to shut things off from time to time or I will never actually build anything! I think if most pop on to check out and tune in for a bit, not 2 hours, there is not a lot of time to weed through the threads. There is a balance is all. As for me...give me a 'Dope slap' if I miss something buddy!! LOL!! I will wake up and pop in!! LOL!!

I know the feeling... as moderator I spend at least an hour or two a day just to go thru all threads. So many going on here...

Hey Leon, Man ya cant take that stuff personal brother. When i joined there were about 300 - 350 members, now.....WOW!!! Its so hard to keep up with even your favorite threads, just so much goin on now. Heck, look at the MoM entries.....AWESOME!!! Theres 2 entries that ive never even seen before! Having traffic slow down on your thread at times is not a reflection of you or your work Leon....not at all! You just keep modeling, posting and having fun....build and they will come. Did i just quote a movie line? Cheesy huh!! Cheers brother Leon, Gary

Leon and the rest
"Sorry guys i just need to vent my frustrations.I try to comment on everyone's thread ,be it a newbie or regular member, weather it be armor,ships,aircraft,sci-fi or anything else.I noticed when i started my thread in modern armor members would say count me in,but when i started posting they just seem to vanish. Also noticed members comment on certain threads and skip over others. Is it because their not interested in that build? It's just frustrating that i take the time to post my work in progress and just have few members comment on it while others skip over it or look in and not comment on it."
Your comments are also observations I have had watching model blog sites for 5 or 6 years. At one time or another in my prior life I served in various volunteer professional societies and one of the things that are said about serving in volunteer organizations you learn that 10% of the members do 90% of the work that gets done along with their 10%. It appears to be much the same in groups of model builders. Below you will see "I have to shut things off from time to time or I will never actually build anything!" it is a good thing to remember that his is not work but fun, we all have constraints on out time. I have all the time I want for model building and even then some things come up that need my attention.
Another very important thing to have in your thoughts when blogging is "Hey Leon, Man ya cant take that stuff personal brother." You are not conversing directly with the writer and can not see if the meaning of the words are humorous or with other meaning so it is always best to take what is OR is no said with the thought that it is harmless.
From my perspective I some time find myself looking at something that is not of primary interest to me but I like to give a word of encouragement and do, I certainly never think that the person building is going to take my words as being hurtful if I don't respond in the future. I don't look at wingy things because I don't build them even though many are interesting objects of scale modeling. I am basically an Allied armor builder with some earlier AVF interests. Any other threads I may look at with any regularity are ones that have a demonstrable skill that I find of interest. If I cause someone discomfort for my lack of consistency in following a particular thread it is purely accidental.
I am sure that most people very innocently with the best of intentions comment on a thread with interest and then get into something else and never get back, human nature at its finest. How many times have you heard "lets get together soon never to see the person again," many I'm sure and blogs are the same only more so.
All of the above is my friendly offering as only my humble observations which no one else is obligated to like or take serious.
Bones

Leon,Bones' comments make a lot of sense to me,and as Gary said,it isn't always very easy to keep up with the threads you WANT to keep up with, let alone the whole Forum!!!! I personally, don't BM threads, for the simple reason that as a Mod,I need to look all around the site, not just the threads that take my fancy. As for commenting,....my tryping skillz, are universally proportional, two the amunt of Vino Blanco,drunk....so I trend nit to soy muck!

One other factor to consider is that, often, members won't post a comment if they feel they don't have anything to add or remark on specifically. All depends on the nature of the person, the time they have available, etc. as mentioned by the previous posts. While it may not seem like much, it does add time to type a reply vs. just read/view and then move on to the next thread or post. Personally I use the board layout and indicators to see what's new/happening and that helps avoid 'missing' things as they move along or are updated. Others rely on the Latest Posts or similar mechanism so they may not be able to get through it all in whatever time they have available. If you've got a thread updating and 4-5 people commenting on that update or getting into a conversation/exchange, it exponentially increases the amount of posts to be gone through depending on how a user chooses to read/navigate the forums. The upside to this new/improved ProBoards layout is that there are many different ways for people to see/navigate things...the downside is that it can end up being like trying to drink from a firehose.

Leon,
It's quite simple, I just don't have time enough to check most of the threads on MSCF. I'm a married man and I have three daughters (12/18/22) and they consume a whole bunch of time (school, hobbies...), and of course there's my work, my wife's work (this reflects too : sometimes I have to cook, clean, do the shopping...). I'm also active on a Belgian forum and also there I have to skip many modeler's projects. I wish I have more time to check each topic because I know I miss a lot, and you all are such good guys so sometimes the situation even makes me feel a bit sad ! And I still have to finish an article for a modelling magazine...it takes months already pfff.
Best regards ! AG.

Guy,i definitely with agree with what your saying.I jumped the gun on this one before really thinking about it.The comments are nice but more importantly as Dicky said above is the viewing. This opened my eyes as to what MSC is all about. cheers

I'm with Bill...... I look at a lot more than I comment on, but unless I have something to contribute, I probably won't post. It's not intended to be a slight, in any way, I'm just in a bit of a rush because the only time I have internet access is at work. Don't tell, okay?

I'm lucky if I get 5 or 6 posts in per day. When I hit 10 I feel like I'm spamming the forum! Totally understand where you're coming from, though, Leon. When I'm heavy into the middle of a WIP posting updates and pics, I sort of feel like everyone else should be doing the same with comments, know what I mean?

Well Leon I am guilty of not commenting on every ones builds. The main reason being the time. After spending a couple of hours looking through recent posts/threads for any modding that needs to be etc I try to check out a few builds and maybe commenting. I actually got burnt out from all the admin stuff that I had no mojo for modeling left. After a short break I am back to trying to catch up on all the great builds here and add a comment too. It's not easy when the forum is as active as this one. Just keep up the good work bro, we ARE watching your builds and up dates.

No prob Leon. Not really hard work, just tedious at times when you try to make things work, and they don't..lol I should check my spelling so I don't have to keep going back and forth to make changes and corrections...would save a lot of time...lol
