The carbon ceramic brakes don't look an awful lot different to those Moose, they just appear a few shades darker as you say and more matt so maybe a few black or Paynes grey washes would even do the trick ?
And here are some pics of the aftermarket brake kit for the model (the calipers come with kit but need to be modded for the PE upgrades. You have to cut away inside a little...the pin is to help hold straight while you drill holes with pin vice though you could probably do the 2 holes needed without drilling the 3rd for pin. I'm going to fill the pin hole when I fill the seam from the 2 caliper halves, then repaint.
Those real brake discs look textured, I reckon you'd be able to stipple on some Mr Surfacer and then paint over it in silver and follow that up with a dry brushing in a dark grey. At least I think I'd try that but I would be cautious and try it on something else first as I wouldn't wanna ruin those discs, they look so good as they are. Its almost a shame they have to be carbon
Very nice build! The carbon on the valve-covers, is this painted or are these decals?
Thanks Dominiek, The carbon was done in decals. I'm actually waiting for some 1/24 scale carbon decal sheets to arrive. I want to compare the 1/24 to the 1/12 (1/12 is what's used so far). I feel like the 1/12 is a bit larger scale than it should be. I'm about to start the interior of the car and I want it to be as close to perfect, or scale, as possible.
Sorry fellas...had to pull away from her for a lil bit. PITA...that's all I can say! Well here is the beginning of the interior... Got to finish the decals and maybe add some more carbon Seats mocked up
I'll be working on it all day tomorrow so I'll post more pics then
Well Moose, you are one lucky bunny. I was fortunate enough to get a look inside the box of one of these but that was as far as it went, it was one of these or a new motorcycle, the kit lost I'm afraid.
It's a shame but I will continue to live the dream through your build, keep it up!
