So for my second build since returning home from Afghanistan, I decided to do something special. I was captivated by DickyF's cutaway T-62, and it inspired me to try my hand at it. This is Trumpeters BRDM-2 (early) and it seems like a great kit. I also have the Voyager Models PE set. So far I've marked and cut away sections on the lower and upper hull, and the turret. Up next is the suspension and interior. I hope you guys enjoy and follow along. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Well I've been chuggin away, I put off constructing the suspension so as not to damage it while im working on the interior bits, but i did put together one set of the rough terrain wheels, and I've done some modification to the interior. The gear shift lever was too far forward, and the drivers station didn't quite add up to the real vehicle, I moved the lever back, added some styrene strip, then replaced the E-break lever with styrene rod, and bent the new shape of the shift lever out of brass wire. I also did some conversion work to the seats, the kit ones were just not realistic, i tried to scratch a new frame and cushion our of wire and styrene, but they just didnt seem to come together and i was unhappy with the result, so i decided to just modify the kit seats. chop chop chop
Looking good Philly. Have to agree that jackwagon's cut a way is very inspiring, and I was almost tempted myself to chop something up.

Thanks for the pics Dicky, I've been scouring the net for pics, The one of the radio is an awesome view and Ive had trouble finding a good picture of that side of the vehicle. Progress is coming along, but ive got a good weekend coming on so i might not get much work done, but i am going to drink a lot of beer, and visit family cheers guys.

Also guys, I need some help; I cant find any pics or info on the radio sets that come with this kit, I've scoured the net and cant find much. I found loads of info on the R-123m "tank" radio which is supplied in the kit so that one isnt an issue, but the rest is a mystery. The large box on the left appears to be a switchboard but i cant be sure, If anyone has any info please let me know! Attachment Deleted

Thanks TRM! I did manage to find some info on two of the components, but i think im gonna have to improvise, adapt, and overcome on the rest, thats ok though, im gonna have fun with it! And yes I think a "radios" (or more accurately) "communications equipment" library would be awesome! I actually stopped by the library first to see what i could find but there wasnt anything commo related.

Just opened the new section!! Communication Equipment Have at it!! If you come across any good links to stuff, forward them on and we can try and get them placed in their prospective locations.
