Saturday Update: About 4am we had a pretty strong sound and light show with up to 78mph wind gust and a little over an inch of rain with more on the way. The bench was hummin with activity working on the north end of the M40. Tools are cleaned up and ready for paint, some PE was placed and the spare track link holders fabricated. The kit provides two options, empty PE brackets or one piece molded plastic with track links. I combined the two by picking out the best links, three of them had sinks holes big enough to wash dishes in and three good ones. I cut out and trimmed up the three good ones then drilled them out for new end cap pins. I had to make a couple of retainer straps and pins to hold the tracks in the brackets. I'm happy with how those turned out. Just few more odds and ends added but nothing big. Chalk up another good day for the old folks Cheers Tony lee Dang Tony, that is a beautiful piece a work my man! The old folks are definitely on their 'A' game right now!

Very productive session there Tony despite the sound and fury distractions! Love the look of those holders and spare tracks, good call on the mix & match.

Hey All it's Monday A guy came by a few minutes ago selling tickets to go on a cruise, said his name was Noah. I had a pretty good day going until the door bell rang. Placed some PE and sprayed the base color. This Big Guy is starting to come together. Put a little texture here and there, you can see it there on the trans housing. Comments Welcome you know Tony lee

Tony
Nothing wrong with going for the Gusto for sure, though Schlitz Beer was never big in my neighborhood. I think you guys back in the banana belt around Indiana probably drank more Schlitz, we used to call it Holy Water out here.

Chris from the research it's one of two possibles. During it's service some barrel swapping did occur or it could be a late model with most of the changes that were incorporated. I know the M43 Howitzer did have the vertical ammo storage as this one. You never know what's been done to decommissioned war relics? ? Thanks Tony lee

Looking fantastic Tony. One question though, why is the barrel only painted half way?

Post by tonylee on Aug 7, 2013 11:10:52 GMT -5
That's my handle Ian The complete gun is heavy so I use that part to handle it with while painting. When the rear is good and dry where I can handle it i'll paint the the rest of the barrel. I do it that way all the time, just my way Thanks Tony lee
