Guys;
I'm trying to build a personal collection of Airborne, Amphibious, Special Forces, Combat Engineer Equipment for my office collection. I already have some Amphibious equipment that I have built and on display at my home office.
My next project I'm starting to plan for is an WWII SAS Jeep. I know it would be much easier to go out and buy an SAS Jeep kit, but us Seabees never take the easy way. So this is what I have so far. Mind you, I don't want to buy an SAS conversion kit. I assume the SAS didn't have any special equipment made for them at that time, so I will pursue this project in the same way.
This is what I have:
1. Testors 1/35 Ambulance Jeep I picked up at a model swap meet for $2.00. It's all in great condition. Included on a fret, some cargo bags that will come in handy for this project.
2. I have some spare 1/35 packs in my spare box that can also be used. Seeing vintage photos of the jeeps shows them loaded down with gear for long range patrols.
3. I have plenty of plastic and material for scratch building.
What I will need:
1. I will go to a couple of local hobby shops and see what 1/35 WWII accessory packs they carry.
2. I will need some British 1/35 weapons
3. I will need some U.S. WWII 1/35 weapons Picked up.
4. 1/35 Jerry cans Picked up.
5. I will like to find a 1/35 Vickers MG for possible mounting and also a MA-Duse .50 for mounting
6. 2 1/35 SAS figuars standing. I will add them to the display when completed. Just ordered.
7. I will research photos on line of SAS Jeeps
Any input and advice would be much appreciated.

Paulh;
Your are right sir, vikers-k guns. I always get the two types confused. Thank you for the info. I have been searching for a set but as of yet no luck.
Thanks guys for the support.

Update; I was able to find U.S. Infantry Weapons Set at one of the local HS. It's a start. The set is from Tamiya in 1/35.

I am with Richard. I have that stowage set from Black Dog... little pricey but worth it as it comes loaded. I think it was $25 at my LHS.

Hi Sam. The Italeri Commando car is available again. I think it has the Vikers K guns you will need.

Evening Guys; New update on the SAS project. I posted a picture of the jeep kit and also found and picked up a pack of 1/35 WWII Jerry cans with racks. I found this at another local HS. I'm holding out for now on any conversion kits. I will see how long that lasts. I really only need some Vickers K MG, a sand channel that gets strapped on the back, I couple of extra tires. I'm still light in cargo pack department and I will have to pick up two troopers. I was thinking of trying to build some packs or tent rolls for cargo. Let me know what you guys think. Sam [i]

Leon;
Thanks for the encouragement.
I have been doing some research and looking at some other builds on line. The sand channels may be a challenge to build. Also the water condenser at the front grill also. Any ideas for the above to listed items. So far, I don't need a conversion kit yet.

Guys;
After looking at some photos on line and reading some build reports of the SAS Jeep, I think I may be able to make the sand channels out of a aluminum soda can material. I was thinking it over, once I get it cut to the right size and shaped, I will put tape over it marked with the proper amount of holes and start drilling using a pin drill.
As far as extra cargo, I will see what I can do as far as sculpting extra bags using modeling clay and paper soaked in white glue. I don't have a time line right now on this project. I still have one local HS I want to check out for extras and I also have a 1/32 Corsair I need to complete on the bench before I start this project.
I will keep you all posted.

Guys; I did some research and took Chris S. advice and just ordered the Masterbox LRDG crew figures. It comes with two sand channels and some extra parts. This should solve all of the remaining issues. I will still have to make some extra cargo but it should be fun. Sam
