Well I was down in the basement looking through boxes of kits to see if maybe I had a ship kit stashed some place. Well there was nothing there except two huge kit boxes in the corner. yep the large scale Constitution and Frigate United States. talk about a blast from the past. I haven't built one of these in well over 30 years. I had also built the Revell 1/96 Cutty Sark back then.
Well I open the Constitution boxes and looked through it. I pulled the instructions and have them on my desk. There is one construction booklet and three others that deal with the rigging and sails. woohoo talk about a winter project.
Will post a pic maybe !!
Anyone else ever build one of these kits ??

Not one that large but I do remember building a Constitution with my dad as a kid. It was a cool project, yours will be ginormous! Make sure you get yourself some nice pre-waxed rigging thread if you're going to rig it!

Yep and need to bring the lot out to the shed now that that is cleaned out and I have lights in there. No big ship for me anytime soon bro, no place to put the sucker. Gonna stick with 1/700 for now.

Sounds like a great winter project Rob. I was looking at the Airfix Cutty Sark the other day in a LHS, I think that would be a lot newer than your Revell one though. I did get a little felling for her as I live very near to where she is being restored after the fire

I did a big 1/96 for my uncle who was a merchant marine on a clipper ship way back when. was thinking of taking a trip to Boston to take some ref pics of the Constitution they have there.
