Hi Mence, The following information is just a thought mate and in no way detracts from the superb job you are making of this build so far. Are you using Zero 2K clear coat for this build? If so, you may find that spraying a little closer (ie 2-3 inches) and keeping a wet edge right across the work piece, you should not have to polish so much once the Clear coat has hardened off. I normally spray a light "dust" coat then allow this to flash for a couple of minutes, then spray medium wet coats from 2-3 inches at 15-18 psi, I let these flash over again for a few minutes in between then finally spray a heavier coat to finish off. in doing this it stops the "orange peel" effect forming and leaves a glass like finish. remember that once the 2k is mixed you only have 20 minutes to get it on the model as it hardens rapidly after this time and will not level out correctly. When you next have some clear coat mixed up, give it a try on a test piece and see what you think. Best Regards Keith. Keith, Talk to me about this Zero 2K clear. It is catalyzed correct? Does the hardener contain isocyanates ?

Chaps. Hey Boots, good to see you, thanks for the kind words buddy. Keith, all info much appreciated mate. I think I need to polish out a bit of 'peel' because I didn't thin the clear coat quite enough although your comment about AB pressure is interesting, mine is set a bit higher than that. I have a couple of old car parts painted up, I will try your suggestions, see how I get on, thank you. Righto, not much time spent on her but just enough to start final routing of the cabling and installation of the fuel tank, not much to add really, Tamiya fit etc. etc. etc. Thank you.

Chaps. Jeff, try this link, it might answer your questions T, thanks buddy, we're on the home stretch now so shouldn't be too much longer providing I get longer than 20 minutes at the bench. Boo, hi mate. Pretty sure my problem is I'm not thinning it enough hence the high pressure so the AB will shift it, I have some 'me time' scheduled in for one evening this week so I will have a practice. Next up, the fairing...

Keith, Talk to me about this Zero 2K clear. It is catalyzed correct? Does the hardener contain isocyanates ? Details for the 2K clear can be found HERE
It is catalysed and the Hardener does contain isocyanates, correct safety equipment must be used at all times. Mence, more superb progress mate. Best Regards Keith

Best Regards Keith Keith, what do you consider correct safety equipment? I've been dealing with isocyanates for almost 30 years. It is very nasty stuff. I just want to make sure you guys know the risks, and are using the right PPE. Stevem snuck in there as I was posting. Thank you for stepping up S. What you say is 100% correct and I agree 100%. Please don't take it the wrong way guys but you need to know what you are using. The health risks are just too big.

Hello Mence, More outstanding work going on here. I've seen on the newer vintage HD that the inside of the fairings tend to be black (mostly).

Steve, imatanker, thanks for the information and concern gent's. I use a suitable respirator rated for organic gases and vapours EN14387 and an extracted spray booth for all spraying operations, I also use nitrile gloves and a Tyvek suit when spraying the 2k clear.
Thanks again for the info
Best regards Keith

Here here Steve. Ok, not much I'm afraid. Those still following will recall earlier posts regarding the somewhat shiny seat, this has now been addressed thanks to a new jar of Tamiya Semi Gloss Clear. Think you'll agree, slightly better.

Chaps. Fairing sorted. Inside painted in Semi Gloss Black enamel as it's far easier to remove the slight overspray when you're not masking. All goes on with a combination of poly caps and screws. You may recall that I was worried about the handlebar switchgear staying in place because no glue would work on the vinyl parts? Well, when you push the mirror stalks through the hole in the switchgear, it binds it all together superbly, damn those Tamiya boys are clever! Nearly there which is a shame as I'm rather enjoying modeling again.

Hello chaps. We're there, bit of cable routing, seat installation and then on with the decals. Due to their age, the decals broke up badly but I managed to recover them along with a teeny bit of touching in with a suitable colour paint. The decision not to go with the big coloured panel decals I feel is a good one, the remaining decals being brown, gold and black work well and are really subtle, I like the final feel, it's better than I hoped for. Anyway, a pic for you, will drop this and a few more in the gallery shortly. Finally, massive thanks to all those who followed and more importantly, those who took the time to comment and support, you guys are the best.
