Good evening, CB asked me if I would be interested in building \ painting this one for him and also was happy if I sort of blogged \ updated people on its progress. So here we go - parts cleaned up and a little test fit to see how things generally look. Still a little prep work required, then on to the wash and prime. More as and when. Tim

It was a toss up between me and you painting this one Tim.....he could've had the Stevens version with a stunning miniature recreation of the great man himself or the Francis version which was rejected when it came to light that at no time did Coco The Clown command the Dambusters...... Harrrumph....CB coulda let me paint his well-known white dog though....... Do ya mean 'Blackie' ??

Dicky & Cee Bee, Unattended? Never, just can't keep up with those standards, or is it insanity? Never able to judge that one. Boo, As you say cracking figure and looking forward to charging the brushes and getting on with it. Tim

Good evening, Quick update on this project. Clean up etc completed and a final trial fit of parts. Couple more detailing bits required, first of them being to drill out the pipe, never convincing as a solid! Figure now consists of 4 parts for painting - head, arms and body with boots attached. A mighty large piece of resin to deal with, the body that is Next up wash and dry, then prime and brushes out. More soon, Tim

Dicky, As you say, a very nice casting which should go a long way towards helping the painting process. Was thinking of getting a little painting advice from your good self with this, tiger pattern camo - not sure how to tackle it Chris, Will not be ready any day soon, but will have started before Euro so will bring it down then for a quick MK1 eyeball if you wish. Not sure yet which day, but most likely the Sunday so as to see a bit more. Tend not to see all comp entrants if I turn up Saturday and leave mid afternoon.

Dicky,
As you say, suprisingly colourful, just up my street really even if it is a little out of era.

Good evening, CeeBeeBeen doing a bit of digging around the web and the following are for discussion only. German life jacket - this sort of colour, or the German Yellow I have based with? Other items I have found include the parachute harness, Will try to replicate as best as can. Boots, these are 1940 pattern, but according to my research he has '41 pattern with the ankle strap. Again, will go with brown if ok with you. Finally, the cap - not dress uniform with black peak, but more likely this. What do you say? It is officer. I have my vision, but please let me know what you think \ want. Tim

Tim,he has been depicted with his flying gear,so it seems the hat you've shown would be correct for this pose.Lifejacket I'm not quite so sure of.....it was said that he favoured the Luftwaffe chute, but not quite sure if he had the Luftwaffe lifejacket??
Edit....Having had another look at the lifevest,it looks like Maurice has used a German one,and as for the boots......I'll get back to ya on that, but again the sculpt looks like it has different to the piccies.

That will do fer me!!!!It seems then, that he favoured the German lifevest, but still kept the British 'Chute??....Have to admit,I thought I read,or heard somewhere, that he strapped the Luftwaffe 'chute on as well?

From what I read me little mucka it was just the life vest, I could always ask Mitch from mitches miniatures, he did the back ground work I think before he got Maurice to sculpt it, Have you seen the bronze ones, they are very nice
