Hi guys with the JP nearing the finish line then it was time to start another build. So to go alongside my JP there will be a Kingtiger in Late War livery , I have chosen a Dragon kit just to see how it builds . So far its like all the other 1/72 kits I have built so far with its pro's and con's however the quality of the Dragon kit just puts it slightly ahead................. Here's the kit................. I also have part one in the stash , I mainly bought them for the figures as they are mighty fine indeed ....some of the best 1/72 figures on the market. The other bonus is the amount of gear you get for the figs ..... you could liken it to 1/35 Gen2 . I have step one complete , very straight forward with more time spent on the clean up than the fitting. Tracks are sweeeeeeeeeeet , lots of room to play with instead of being to tight like the last set of DS I used.
I find the DS material takes form if kept in the same shape for a while so I have blu-taced the sag in place and I will leave these over night. Not perfect but once painted and fixed in place they should look good . Next I will be working on the upper hull and getting rid of those moulded solid view ports ,,,,yeeeeeeeesh! Cheers Deano

I like these kits too Deano!! Off to a great start!! Will be following! Yeah they are off the mark a bit on the molded view ports. I shaved the last ones off and used some PE tree to cut new ones...works like a charm. I little Krytal Klear or even White glue and a tint, you're home!! Keep up the great work!!

Hey Deano good looking start on this . The fit of the tracks looks like it will be easy to get the correct sag .

Thanks for joining me fella's My working weekend starts on Friday's so I try to sneak some build time in where I can . Not much done on this one but progress is progress .... The kit has a countersunk hole in the radio operators hatch , this is for a screw to fix upper and lower hulls which is handy for diecast hulls . However my hull is styrene so I favour cement but this is an invitation to open up that hatch even more for figure purposes....... So after some chopping the results are quite good and should get a figure in there no problem. Next was the view ports and I am much happier thats out the way. I will add some mock vision blocks to finish it off . Think I should probably accept that I will be doing this proceedure quite a lot on 1/72 kits lol. Last up was to paint under the engine deck , this is only for shadow so I wont be painting it up properly . Next will be to paint the hull interior and join the halves so I can move forward with construction . Cheers Deano

Deano, Dude, you gotta do the engine deck I did Dragon's Jagdtiger W/ lifting crane a while ago, and left the engine bay cover and hatch loose so you could take them off. I'll bet the kits are about the same so you could do the same thing if you wanted. Try it, you might like it I could deploy this one too if you would like. The crane might come in handy

Thanks Pete , like the new Avatar Errrr well this one got away from me slightly and is nearly finished . The kit on a whole is great for 1/72 and only needed some slight tweaking ............... I have made the radio operators hatch workable which will be easier for painting . Also put the hooky part on the track hangers as there was none on the turret .... these need trimmed and sanded still. I have pre-drilled all the holes needed for grab handles as the kits were moulded solid , some fine wire should do the trick . Still to add headlight conduit as well. So ja! paint is not far off ... thanks for looking Deano

Excellent work old boy! Are you going for a red oxide undercoat and maybe have the odd bit showing through as battle damage? Impressive work on the front periscopes btw!
