Right chaps i have been trying something different from the norm diorama wise and have been dabbling in the art of paper modelling after being influenced by another modeller on Facebook some of you may know him Slava Trudu he has made several pieces for Uschi if you get the chance to check out his work look for his Reimag bunker dio anyway enough of the woffling this will be a on going blog showing some of the processes i have used for anyone else interested in trying out this technique. Background on my dio idea after watching a documentary about the Horten brothers on Discovery History i wanted to recreate a scene in the film of a Horten 229 flying wing being made in a hanger more on the Horten later in the project . first up i found a Texture website that you can download templates which can be put into a photo editing program then the template can be resized to a scale in my case 1/72 on the site i used i found a section on concrete bunkers and steel industrial doors then the templates were downloaded re sized and printed onto Canon craft photo card these were cut out and attached by 3M spray adhesive to black foam board here is a picture of work done so far this was a practice piece and is roughly 1/48 scale I am currently building the final hanger door and will be posting up a sbs if anyone is interested :? as always comments are always welcome

Cheers Andy its taken a lot of research and practice but im slowly getting the hang of it Here is the start of the ongoing sbs the printed scaled template Then using a sharp scalpel and ruler the doors were cut out of the picture to make up 1 hanger door i have used 4 printed templates The doors were then arranged and stuck to a sheet of black foamboard Next up was to find a concrete base for the floor of the hanger this was roughly scaled to 1/72 then printed off this will be stuck to foamboard like the doorand walling also i printed off a line drawing of a Horten in 1/72 as i scale guide this will be used as a template for panel lines when i get started on the Horten kit Before i move onto the next stage i tried adding some figures to what i have so far to check for scale and its a chance for a bit of photography practice next update soon Dan B

Pretty cool, Dan. Don't know much about modeling with paper, but I gotta say. That door and the cement slabs look darn realistic:) well done.
