Hello chaps Right this will be my 2nd wingy build so far and since purchasing this kit last weekend at the Dunsfold airshow i could not wait to get this started upon opening the box i was quite suprised with the small amount of parts but that means a quicker build the detail is superb and the ref book you get with it is a nice touch this is a re branded Italeri kit so im hoping it will be as good as a Tamiya wingy The superb box art this will be on my wall when finished Background on the fighter The Hawker Hurricane ranks amongst the most important fighters of World War 2 the Hurricane bore the brunt of the Battle of Britain, accounting for 55% of Luftwaffe losses during the epic struggle, the fighter served in nearly all the major theatres of WW2 including the far east and the Atlantic. 3000 went to the USSR tho it was poorly rated by some russian pilots but was in its element in battles in the far east Sea Hurricanes went to war from aircraft carrier decks and could even be launched from catapult equipped merchant ships When production ceased in 1944 over 14,500 had been built with relatively few modifications from the original 1935 design. Be interesting to see this build up Dan, I see it's one of the Italeri kits, I wonder if TM have done any work on the moulds?

Not sure buddy it does not seem to have the Tamiya trade mark fit some parts will need a lot of filling and sanding and the cockpit has no details so i have scratched some parts and added cables and hoses but its not all bad the details are crisp on fuesalage and wings will be adding some rivets to the wings when i get that far thanks for looking in buddy Dan B

Nice choice Dan, will be looking forward to seeing this one come together! Steve, Tamiya reboxes a number of Italeri kits for the domestic and overseas markets. As far as I have seen, they are the exact kit that Italeri produces, with no additions or modifications. If you are going to buy any of these reboxes, I would suggest reading any reviews online with regards to the Italeri kits. Most of Italeri's 1/72 range is pretty sweet (I know their choppers are at least!!! ) but their 1/48 range can be pretty hit and miss. Having said that, from what I understand the Hurricane is a real gem so this should be a great build! Cheers, Sam

nice a hurricane my favourite fighter. Got the italeri boxing in the stash so will be watching with interest. Built a hasegawa Mk IIc a while back that fought me all the way. Hopefully this kit goes together better. Nice cockpit.

Dan,I think you'll find this is the 'Fairly' recent re tooling of the Italeri kit, with the addition of the 3 Tammy figures. The 'New tooling' Italeri seems to be a pretty good kit, with a bit of TLC,as far as I know!.Anyway, yours looks like it's coming along pretty well! The scheme Pete used was the standard camo in the ETO,a bit after the one you're building, which is the early war scheme,as on the boxart.I'd have to dig through me books to give changeover dates,etc...

Cheers CB i will be closely copying the boxart scheme for this 1 and was lucky enough to find a book in my local libary on camo and markings for 1940 the book is On Target no 9 The battle of Britain a really good read if ya can get ya hands on 1
on regards of the kit the fit is quite good tho 1 side of the wing was warped so with a bit of persuation she was straightened and the cowling is a bit warped too but nothing to really worry about so far so good will be painting the cockpit when i get back off me hols next week

Hopefully this kit goes together better. Nice cockpit. I went down to the 'Spitfire' Memorial hall at the old RAF Manston site a coupla years ago.Met a really nice ex Pilot from that time...His first words were...."Good Morning, the Spitfire is in that hall, and the goodun is in that hall"...pointing right, and left He ended up flying 'The Whispering Death',over SE Asia....He liked that one the best!!!!!
