So back at the Wings & Wheels show in March I picked up this beauty:
Actually, it's an ugly machine, but I've got strange taste I guess Also, I picked up these from Craftec's booth to go with it:
Probably only using the netting though, those figures aren't too great. Anyways, this project was going at a great, fast pace, and I was doing great, until my airbrush crapped out on me. But, it looks like I'll be getting a new one, a better one! So this project's going to be resurrected. And I am beyond pumped, this kit practically fell together. Here's all the stuff I've done so far. I clipped off a stud on a piece, so now the wheels can be turned. A stroke of genius? Close, but no, not quite. Interior bits: All stuck inside: With the gun mount: 2 halves together: Red interior primer. Too red actually... So, I thought about it, asked a few questions, and decided I needed to paint over it. So, the day before I discovered my airbrush was useless, this arrived. Used Dunkelgelb aus '44 DG I for the interior, and basically, my airbrush just spat out runny, wet goop like a toddler with the sniffles. So I tried to fix it, and it didn't work, so naturally, I started my AFV Club 251. And now you're all caught up. Probably no immediate updates, but I[m hoping to get back into this within a couple weeks... To great of a kit to let it die on the workbench! -Conor

Nice buy at W&W Connor!! These things make for a fun weathering project all around!! Making some great strides too!! Looking good my friend!!
The Late War set is nice!! The two darkest colors btw, the Rotbraun and Resedebrun are thicker than the others...thinking this has to do with the properties of the pigments of darker color...standard stuff ...so you may need to thin them a bit more. I found I needed to play around with it as I thinned and it was too thin...there is a balance...mess with it. Second, it may be due to the conditions brotha...you are not that far away from me and it has been one heck of a muggy summer. If it is too muggy mine will spit like a Cobra!!! Do you have a moisture trap? If not and depending on the compressor (As I use a large one) the tank will get condensation and cause the same issue...drain it off if this is the case.
Ok....back on track here...great job, keep it coming my friend!!

Well, basically what T said about the paints. You will see that come Fall/Winter they work great.
I remember you grabbing this kit at the show, I was po'd at myself for not seeing it. Or was it a raffle prize ! Anyhoo, nice work on the build and primer looks great from here.

Great start. Always liked these 8-wheelers. Got this and a couple others in the stash. Interior is coming together great. I'm struggling with my AB right now too so I feel your pain. I'll be checking back in often. Rick

Thanks for the feedback guys. The AB trouble might not be the awful humidity... I started this kit back in March and I think it was April when my airbrush failed me. I don't actually have a compressor, I just used a propellant can. It's an Aztec airbrush, got it for my birthday 2 years back, used it once, then it sat around until this kit came around. Definitely going to get myself a new one, and a decent compressor...anyone know of any that have the best balance of quality and cheapness? @scratchmod Ha! Got it for just $22, wasn't too far from your table either. Glad I snagged it when I did It's almost a shame though, you would've done a better job with it, even if it would be built into a burnt out wreck hahaha. Anyways, in the rain that wouldn't end until 1 o'clock today, I sat at the dining room table and built the gun. The dining room can be a nice change from the messy workbench The MG-42 isn't glued in yet, just stuck it there for the photos. I came pretty close to stealing the PE gun shield from my AFV Club Pak 40. But I decided to just go with the kits shield rather than attempt putting my kit bashing skills to the test, however brief it would be. So up next is the wheels, and thankfully, there's only 8. Which is great, compared the building 28 for a Panzer IV. But after that, I've got no choice but to get a working AB and start the interior... Thanks for looking! -Conor
