So much HET for so little tank. Guess you can easily spend a whole big can of primer on that one! I bet my airbrush compressor would shut down from overheating when trying to paint it all at once...
All in all a nice job, have fun with the steps to come!
Cheers, Tobi

I agree with Andy, the primer shows all the great details you added to the build. And it also makes it even bigger...

Well!! I managed to get som paint on them during the holidays . The Jaguar was made as an early because I like the look of it with only the optical sight (before they got the new bulky housing with the imaging sight) and then I could do it in the old Olive Drab. So after some looking through photos and info I found out that the Franziska entered service in OD so then I had to do it in that colour, also because everybody seems to be painting it in the 3 colour NATO camo. The colour I used was Xtracolor X153(FS14031) US Army Helo Drab with a hint of Light Stone(British Army Gulf War) So here is some photos of them in German Army OD:
As always ACW

Hi Jack, interesting fact about the OD and surprising. With the introduction of the SLT 56 in 1989, I would have thought they were delivered in 3-tone right from the beginning.
Can you post or send me a photo, please?
Cheers, Tobi

Thanks Lads much appreciated. Tobi - I have 2 photos from the Tankograd book where the Franziska is mono coloured I will try and post them , they started trials with them around 1979-80 and they had Y registration(the order for the Franziska was issued in 1988), so those vehicles would have stayed OD until rebuild or such, so the ones delivered from 1989 might have been delivered in NATO camo? I found some info here as well: www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=205595&page=1

Thanks Jack. The point is, if I recall correctly, there was an order that newly delivered equipment had to have already the 3-tone camo from 1985 onward. This was later limited to front line vehicles only, the rest could be plain bronze green, but never yellow olive. Vehicles already in service sometimes stayed in yellow olive after this date and ongoing, of course, but with the Franziska this is strange and somehow contrary.
About Y-license plates and tactical signs one has to know, that sometimes even prototypes were outfitted with these purely fictionally, to "enhance" the degree of realism on photographs! Maybe as counter espionage?
Nevertheless, modelling after a photo is a good thing, as the vehicle at one point must have looked somehow like that. In case of the SLT-56 I wouldn't rule out it was still a prototype state.
Cheers, Tobi

Thanks for the info Tobi, it's hard to see the correct color in the photo in the Tankograd book but to me it looks more OD than BG , so I will stay with the OD and try and give it a another shading than the Jaguar. About the Y reg. that makes good sense, in Denmark we did something similar then you could see by the numbers on the plate if it was a test vehicle.
