Okay, let's be honest here. How many will admit they have more unfinished kits than they care to have? What happened? Missed a deadline? Too complicated? Another new kit come along? Mess it up and will wait for parts to come your way? Mine are a little of all of the above. Enlisted in too many Campaigns, one step in the kit's directions got a little difficult and boring and the ultimate... a bigger and better mousetrap came my way. So, who else has/had this problem? Jeff

Oh boy, it is going to take a while for me to count! Give me a minute. I see a duck... thats one but its in process... unfinished 1/16 paratrooper... that's two. I don't see more. Only two? Does it makes me abnormal? Knowing me and my ADHD I refrain myself from starting a new build. LOL

I usually finish what I start,if I don't finish it's usually out of frustration, then they get tossed.Probably happens at least once a year, buti usually don't have any unfinished jobs sitting around.

unfinished kits, what's that !! Not me...........yeah right.
For me it's a lot of things, could be loss of interest in the model, a new ref pics gets me started on another, mojo......on and on. During the summer when it's humid here I do more building and very little painting so I end up with lots of started models. I don't have deadlines anymore since I stopped doing mag articles, and also no longer do comm models.

My unfinished count is 0. I know I'm an anomaly in this area, but I build only one project at a time, don't start another until the current one is finished, and hold to that rigorously. Been that way 99% of the time for the last 10 years with only 1 build ever abandoned prior to completion. Just once I built two kits at the same time, a dual project involving two vehicles of the exact same kit, and keeping that straight was too much of a headache in terms of what parts went where and when! Hat's off to those who keep multiple projects on the go simultaneously, my bench is only big enough to support a single project at a time.

Hat's off to those who keep multiple projects on the go simultaneously, my bench is only big enough to support a single project at a time. I'm the same, don't buy anything else till the project i'm on is finished. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is i've only been back modeling for 2 years so haven't like a lot of the lads had years to build up a massive stash lol! The other is that my current and last builds have been for me, very complex 1/16 scale where the kits have hundreds of parts, upgrades are needed but more than anything, the research on the interiors and engine bays requires quite a lot of research. I think for me to try and give one of these kits my best shot i just have to stick to it till it's done.

I always have at least two or three unfinished projects, mostly due to me loosing interest half way through a build. No biggie really I know I will eventually get round to finishing them, just don't know when that will be!
My biggest trouble is thinking at least three projects ahead and sometimes, well those new projects are far more attractive than the current model on the bench.

Who's to say it ain't finished? what's wrong with giving it a coat of the grey shtuff and putting it on display, you built it and it's painted.
I'm a slow builder but I have to have a few things on the go, it stops me getting to the point of the build where I give up on it and leave the bench for ages. At least with three on the go I can change what i'm struggling with.

Okay, now we're talkin'! Look at all those Shermans! And the nickname "Tha Shermanator" That is great! I have been the victim of biting off more than I can chew, but I have learned my lesson so my goal is to finish those kits started... one-by-one. My intent was true and genuine but once things crop up or you get sidetracked, you get behind in a hurry. I think I have 7 that are like that so it's not too bad. So from now on, no shrink wrap will be removed on a new kit unless it's benchtime for it! Thanks for replying guys! I am working on the Japanese Combat tank and taking pictures as I move through the steps so I should be starting a thread by the end of the week. Football and real life have been my obstacles along the way. Jeff

Personally, I try to only have 7, 8, or 9 projects going at the same time. This way, it allows me to shelve them, till I get to the next 7, 8 or 9 projects. Does this make me a collector??

I have a different approach. Once I'm retired from my actual job and no longer capable of building all my models myself I will open a shop!
Spending my money in plastic (oil) is a better investment than carrying it to some stupid bank that possibly tricks me.
So I'm calling my stash my personal retiring fund... can't be worse than Greece anyway and I'm not meaning to insult any Greeks here!
Cheers, Tobi

I have at least a dozen unfinished, but half of those are so very close...... I will always have more than one going, mainly because if I get stalled or bored on one, I can move on, still modeling until I feel good about the one I put down and can get back on it. I also have quite a few that I did a while ago, and am not "totally" happy with. They go into a "to be salvaged" category and are stripped for parts or given to kids, friends, etc.

I know I'm an anomaly in this area, but I build only one project at a time, don't start another until the current one is finished, and hold to that rigorously. For the first two or three years when I got back into modeling (June of '06), I was exactly the same way. No "shelf of doooom"! Then I got a little too ambitious with trying to multitask one armor build with one aircraft build - no need to wait for glue or paint to dry! - and it's been alllll downhill from there. I will admit to getting stymied by a particularly difficult portion of a build...and setting it aside for a day or two to "think about it". I end up thinking about it waaaaay too long.
