Well, it's not much of a start... but it's a start so I won't expect too many replies at first. Between projects and stuff I'm glad I have got this far. Here the box is sealed! Now it is not! It does have DS tracks! (thank gawd!) My wife snuck up on me while I was working. Now everyone knows I am for real and not some giant lurker! Basically the basics. Sprockets, idlers and return wheels. Whoppeeee! Roadwheels and suspension with the little PE washers. Why is it every DML PE I get that has screening it is always bent but Trumpeter just tosses theirs in the lower hull and it never gets damaged? More later guys! Jeff

Thanks guys for dropping in! More work was done tonight (pictures later) as the roadwheel assemblies are completed and the outdrives are installed too, with the prop blades. I'll get the chassis all cemented so that the tracks will be easier to slip on. Jeff

Nice one! Got this myself plus another pontoon version.
Many people like DS tracks, personally I don't. I'm die hard single track link masochist!
Times were golden when both of it was in a Dragon kit box...
Cheers, Tobi

Okay, a few more pictures. At least of the lower hull and the running gear 'placed' to see what we are working on. I just 'sat' the upper hull and turret on to at least "LOOK" like a tank! Here's an aerial view... at least what us Allies need to look for when we bomb the crap out of the little tin can! It does resemble somewhat a tank I guess. I just like the little tankettes for some reason. The props were fun and at least that is why I got the kit and that it's the combat version. I do think though that if you were infantry... you would indeed RUN! I had to make an executive decision on the front shackle plates as the way DRAGON had them to be placed, they didn't fit and I had no immediate reference images so I placed them as to how they "FIT" and tried not to re-engineer the kit. You save yourself a lot of headaches following that protocol. I do need to come up with a plan to show off the turret interior somehow as it is VERY detailed and busy, so I don't want to loose that sealing it up. That's it for now! Jeff

Thanks guys and I want more of the "boxy look" so if any of you have that Japanese armor kit you no longer want to build, contact me before I go on a spending spree. I'll also consider trading if there's something you're looking for in particular but mainly I want to get a few more 'small/boxy' tank kits. (back to the bench) Jeff

Nice progress , woudldnt be a Dragon kit without dodgy destructions Deano AMEN to 'dat comment buddy! Amen. I'll return to it soon now that I made great progress straightening up the "Mission Room" some as next chore will be to empty out the PB and begin getting things plumbed, wired and ready to rock! (I am so excited about this too) I am current preparing a 1/16 Sherman III build, need to finish a 1/16 Panther build and my poor Trumpeter E-50 needs to be assembled and weathered as I've really neglected it too with this new project. Thanks for the replies guys! Jeff

Worked a little more on the frontal plate... you know, where the driver and bow gunner reside behind. Had to do a small repair (and sorry, this is not my best attempt at focusing) but I wanted one adjustable slit cover open, the other closed. And the liquid cement reached out and got me so I had to wait overnight to drill it out and match the other side. It worked! Also, I had to open the holes a bit on the hatch to allow the linkage to "sit in". After learning the experience with the liquid cement brush I grabbed a piece of brass and 'built up' the application of cement. NOW... don't anyone breath that direction and certainly for gawds sakes, don't touch it!! I know I will and I'll probably most likely be reattaching it. So that's it for now. Maybe while I celebrate the small victory and let the cement dry I will start on the other Japanese tank kit? Jeff

Nice work Jeff! That's the problem with Japanese tanks: even the real deal was fragile as hell! LOL
I bet our "222"'s have had better armor...
Regarding your Ho-Ni, the Tamiya Ho-Ni I has a gun crew in the box.
Cheers, Tobi

Nice update there Jeff! I hardly ever use the supplied brush in the liquid cement bottle but instead use a smaller ordinary paint brush to apply glue, makes it much easier to control. Might give that a whirl!
