Had too much fun at annual event by Indiana Military Vehicles Preservation Association held at Ropkey Armor Museum in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The museum is a private collection of many tanks in middle of a ferkin' corn field. Check the pictures if you don't believe me... Museum website in case you are interested... worth it if you ever pass thru Indiana! www.ropkeyarmormuseum.com The museum... see corn field in the background? Event is behind the museum. Inside the museum... Many tanks... Even a Japanese one... Many bikes for you who love 'em... Tractors/bulldozers... Something to turn Rob on... Even couple of planes... I got to fondle big toys... Finally I got to visit Dicky's man cave... impressive! I uploaded more than 160 pictures to my Photobucket if you wish to see more. s713.photobucket.com/user/aleffler/library/MVPA%202013%20Ropkey?sort=3&page=1Enjoy! Off to work...

Nice pictures there Andy! You should have said something about dropping by there as it's been a while since I have visited Fred and his toyz! As a matter of fact, I was there when they were knee-deep in restoring that FT tank. It was all apart in their 'workshop' in the back room. And the Japanese tank is a Type 74 captured by none other than our own Marines! It's a treasure. I have lots of pics too so I may be visiting yours soon as that place is amazing to see. And he is on FaceBook too. As a matter of fact there is a Swap Meet there today. Jeff

Hey Jeff!
John thought maybe one day we all can meet there. There is always next year I think it usually happens on third weekend of September so better mark your calendar now. LOL Also John told me you will stop by AMPS next week. I am not sure if I can stop but but will let John know.
Serious note Fred has been fighting cancer I was told by one of the museum volunteers... if you are talking about the owner I can not remember his name. He was either walking around or resting on lawn chair at his house porch. Hoping he recovers completely.
They were in middle of restoring Patton as they wanted to run it today but ran into engine troubles so its back in the garage. They will run M41 Bulldog instead... too bad I had to work today.

Hey buddy! Missed you by a minute. Next year we will make it work. It is best to go on Saturday... more vendors, bigger crowd and they don't fly planes or run tanks on Friday too. I had fun but it would be even better with your help hauling my new big toys back home for me.

Sure, I'm game! The more the merrier for sure! Crawfordsville is only about 90 minutes away (60 if I hurry ) so let's do it one day! If he doesn't have any running tanks that day I could always bring one of my 1/16 to show off? Jeff

That's the tank they were hoping to run today but couldn't due to engine troubles. They had it restored this summer... It was HUGE... maybe they will run it next year? First year I went they ran this WWI tank... Second year M24 Chaffee... it was awesome! This year I missed...

I live in Franklin, but I was born and raised in Indy. That Paladin is the first thing you see when you enter the Museum! It DOMINATES the space as it does the battlefield! So, they were trying to start the M47 PATTON huh? Too bad it didn't work out but I'd rather see the FT running. Did I mention it was in parts the last time I was there? Those are some extremely nice photos... what kind of camera are you using as I am in the market for one. One that I need for modeling too as my camera I have is about 12 years old and it is suffering badly and lacks those features I really need. Bill knows as I have picked his brains way too many times! Yeah... I am a total armor geek and part-time historian. I will probably use a full card on the FT as I have a 1/16th kit on it's way next month... FINALLY after having it on pre-order going on 3 months! I do think to honor Freds tank I want to paint it EXACTLY the same, and make up any markings that I can. I'm even RCing the kit as I do believe I have some metal dozer tracks that should work. We'll see. It'll be all me as there are no known electronics and boxes for the kit. Oh well... here I go rambling on again! Jeff

Jeff- Franklin is not that far. You are even closer to AMPS club as they meet in Greenwood at public library. They were still working on M47 Patton the whole time when I was there. See ladder I think its 6 footer... tank rear is as tall as ladder. DAMN! Engine rebuilt I was told... The mechanic stepped away for a while so I climbed on the ladder to take pictures of the engine. LOL My camera? You are going to chuckle... iPhone 4s. It do take good pictures but not at distance or fast movement. Its battery life really SUCKS. Planning to upgrade to iPhone 5s next month after my trip to New Mexico. I really want a better camera... one day! Leon- I ACCEPT!!! LOLOLOL

LOLOLOL! I knew somebody was going to say something about that mini yellow submarine... had to take picture of it. Glad you liked the Red Power Wagon... few vehicles were used for civilian purpose.
