I'm thinking of doing a DAK build when my workbench clears off. Love the tank and figs in the last two photos. What kits are they? And what references did you use for the builds?(If you used any) Right now I've got almost nothing on the Afrika Korps.
Awesome stuff!

Squadrons oldy on the Afrika Korps is a good one and I have Volumes 1 & 2 of "Panzers in the Sand, the History of Panzer Regiment 5". Another excellent source is my recent addition of "Workhorse Panzer III in Afrika". Lots of good color plates in that one. Google is your friend as well. The last two photos are of the DML PzkPFW IV F (F1), the officer fig is Alpine and the other two are frankensteined from bits an bobs. Thanks guys, I know some of you have seen these before but they are a few of my faves. G

Thanks Gary. I was actually called out on another forum for that one. A fellow claimed no DAK tank ever looked like that and it should be considered a figment of the imagination. When I countered with several B/W photos that proved him wrong, he launched into a tirade about unreliable period photos.
I PM'd the person and told 'em to Ferk Off.
I used another new technique on that build as well. I sprayed the completed model with MM rattlecan "Gunship Gray" masked the emblem areas, then dabbed hair gel on the areas to be chipped. A final spray of a Tamiya sand color mix finished that off. I went back and gently scrubbed the tank creating chips where the hair gel washed off. I always liked that one a lot.
