Hi guys time for another build from the Ostfront , a little PST KV-1 ......................... The kit seems to come in different coloured styrene which is a bit wierd .............. The lower hull comes in 4 parts with the swing arms moulded in place , nasty! Starting with the running gear and its all straight forward , parts are moulded with little clean up so thats a plus for the kit. Light green plastic which shows up every blemish going , sooner we get primer the better! Dry fit with upper hull is perfect which is always good . Now here comes the pain , I think link and length tracks in this scale are brilliant but these are terrible . They just dont go together well at all , I think the mouldings for these have seen better days . However I will use them on this build and try some heavy mud on the running gear for a wee change . I paid a fiver for this kit which aint bad but think I will try and kit bash the other 3 that I have with some trumpy kits which I can get for 7.50 each . All in all the PST kit is good apart from the tracks in this batch , bashed with a trumpy kit I think you will get a swan . Cheers Deano

Hey Todd , yeah these link and length tracks are probably the same with width as panzer II tracks so it aint that bad in 1/72 . Now if it were Panzer II tracks in 1/72 then I'd run for the hills lol.

That upper hull looks like it might have been molded from recycled sprues with those swirly colors! I'm sure you'll be able to whip this one into shape Deano, looking forward to more.

Thanks Luigi , I have slightly less than that on mine so its good enough without breaking the tracks . Its the long straight lengths of L&L Im trying to distort with tension . lol Deano

Don't worry, the sag could be even null, as the tensioning wheel was able to keep them totally straight. After some use it tended to lose tension, so the sag was more evident

Nice! Another little goody! I have a KV-122 in that company's brand, but now I have it in 1/35th. You guys amaze me building these masterpieces in this scale! I was all set to build a Battle of the Bulge in 1/72... but I overbought and had too many kits. Now I doubt I can even see that small. Jeff

Time for an update me thinks , progress is good and I have eliminated the rubbish tracks by adding mud............ heavy mud! lol I did all my testing on the underside of the hull , its a build up of dried garden earth , white glue, water , paint and pigments followed by a mist spray of AK dry mud paint . I have a second application to do but I will do that when I am fixing it to the base. Upper and lower hull are now fixed and to be honest since I took this photo construction is nearly complete Deano
