Yeah, that whole thing is pretty messed up. Interested to see how it turns out in the end...another company producing weathering + painting products? Will AK keep going strong?

WOW!! Iain and Rick left too!!! That's gotta be a pretty heavy blow to AK!
It'll be interesting to see how this thing plays out.

Missed this until I saw it through a link on the Thunder Run FB page. Whatever really happened may never be know but from Mig's statement it doesn't sound good and that some legal storm clouds may be forming.

Unbelievable! Some years ago he was ousted from his own company MIG Productions, now AK!
It would seem Mig is an old school guy to whom a "shake hands"-agreement means a lot and is sufficient (an attitude I prefer), not a business man.
However, he has my support, with whatever he will come up in the future. Since Francois Verlinden no one else did so much for our hobby IMHO.
Cheers, Tobi

Anyone else see a pattern here? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... Jeff I cant say myself as i dont know the facts.....only they do and they seem to have differing stories. However, my nephew and a couple other gentlemen we know are of the same opinion....they see a pattern. Me, i will be looking forward to what new goodies (if any) that Mig might come up with.

I think it´s very unwise to fire a living legend. I don´t know the reason, but I´ll Support Mig if he´ll start something knew. He changed my way of painting and weathering completly.

Relatively new to modern modeling and know very little of both parties backgrounds but from what i can see here it seems that Fernando Vallejo has tried to take advantage of an old fashioned gentleman's agreement with Mig. Maybe Mig should have had agreements in writing but it seems when it comes to money anywhere, greed can be a factor. Sure Mig will bounce back though, he's extremely talented but also an innovator, he doesn't need another company as a vehicle for his ideas and products, he can keep doing his good work on his own. Shame though, really like AK's stuff, wonder what will happen now?

But those AK guys made me buy everything they had at their booth... just ask Rob and others. I think I am done with AK... going back to Vallejo paint when I run out of AK paint. It is not that hard... just add a drop or two of lighter or darker paint and you have your color modulation set using just two or three bottles instead of six.

I don't know how common the name Vallejo is in Spain, but the fact that the president of AK is Mr. Fernando VALLEJO Calleja makes me believe it's all the same, hence it won't make any difference... It is a real shame to hear this news i have been a dedicated fan of AK like a lot of us in the model world i found there products to be excellent especially the weathering products its the same old story the ones at the top act like children and cant get on story of our world nowadays the same story has just happened in the mountain bike world a large company who pushed the sport to another level has had money problems and disagreements in management and have left staff and sponsered riders without a job there should be laws against this crap the managers then go away make a new company and all this starts again all i hope is Mig can start up again on his own and bring out some new products what does this mean for AK products will they be seized from production? should we stock up? lol
sorry for the rant just these things really annoy me

It is pretty messed up, I like the AK products but will support Mig. Luckely i can weather with oils too Like all others i still have enough AK/Mig stuff left and still like to use this stuff next too oils etc. till the bottle are empty For painting nothing beats that good old Tamiya The Vallejo paint hase nothing to do with AK beside the same very common name in Spain! Now lets hope Mig starts his own thing before my AK/Mig bottles are empty

yeah it's a shame. I got the impression that both sides are throwing with some mud to each other...it's a bit messy and hard for us outsiders to judge the situation. I will keep continue using the products as long as they are good.
Sucks too btw that MIG closed down his AK forum without informing the members. I read about it on FB, otherwise I wouldn't have known of the issue. It would have been much gentler to add a statement on the forum prior to the shutdown
Cheers

Legal issues around cease-and-desist when relationships are terminated usually don't leave much room even when they are amicable and this one clearly wasn't. I suppose that would make Mig even less willing to accommodate anything that was no longer under his control, so light's out was the choice to keep any chance of there being a charge that he continued to represent AK or use the AK logos in any way (which could cause fraud issues and other problems) after the date of the AK announcement was posted. These types of things can be quite ugly depending, never pretty to see it happen.

you're probably right Bill, but between the initial messages of AK and Mig of the end of their relationship and the shutdown of the forum was almost a week. Not too hard to generate a single short email about it or so.
Anywhoo, hope to see more great stuff coming from him. And if he decides to start a new company again, hope he doesn't enter the pitfall he stepped in twice already ^^
Cheers

as of this time, me and my partner still shipping AK products here in our country, we may not now what future holds for AK... we do acknowledged the Man Behind AK is already left same with is founding pillars... but if you put yourself in our perspective and your running a business, what would you choose, go on or stop? weathering is essential our modeling needs, not unless we go back to our old school ways... Mig and his crew created AK to make our life easier as a modeler... (correct me if I'm wrong) if Mig establish his own brand and company as in he can call his own, there's no question we will support Mig, Carlos, Iain, Rick and Eli.
