Been waiting for a mojo boost to kick in but it just wont happen. I've been suffering with a loss of mojo nearly this whole year. What is going on? Why is it taking so long to return? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP

Been waiting for a mojo boost to kick in but it just wont happen. I've been suffering with a loss of mojo nearly this whole year. What is going on? Why is it taking so long to return? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP I go through the same thing all the time. What get's me back? A new kit. Does it get built? Nope! So when you find the answer please share as I am easily distracted these days. Cant tell you why Robbo. When it happens to me I do the usual- take a break etc, but what gets me back into it is picking a simple OOB build ( not that mine are much more than that anyway) often something from Tamiya or similar for painless construction. That usually fires the ole mojo back up - for me anyway. HTH P

Think I might need to clear all the unfinished stuff from the bench, that is looking rather cluttered, and just leave the Cutty Sark on there and plod on with that, what do you reckon?

Sorry to hear about the ol' mojo playing up Ian I lost mine a while back, found it hard to get motivated to build. My fix? 1/72 helicopters built out of the box. I threw together the Italeri OH-58D on a challenge to build something OOB and I have been hooked on little choppers since! It was a great help in getting my mojo back, and I now have a heap of 1/72 aircraft to build (both fixed wing and rotary) OOB between "big" builds. Found that it's great to keep the mojo flowing as you can get a kit finished pretty quickly, and that helps me to stay keen. With Airfix pumping out all these new aircraft kits, it is really easy to find cheap, detailed and excellent fitting kits to add to the stash. Huzzah!! Hope you find a way to get the mojo flowing again soon mate! Cheers, Sam

Hi Robbo, Do you like music? I find it makes bench time really enjoyable and keeps me there longer. Or do you have a small TV or even a radio, to listen to your favourite sport. It's just a suggestion but stuff like that helps me.
Cleaning up the bench sounds good (I should do that too!) and focusing on one build that is not too hard or frustrating like an OOB build sounds good too. Finishing a build is a great feeling and keeps me motivated, so I usually just build one kit at a time, resisting the urge to start multiple builds. Making consistent progress on one project gives me a sense of achievement, so I try to do that.
Anyway best of luck, cheers. JT

Hi Robbo, happens to us, I know on my last time I cleared out the whole cave and started again, gave me the incentive to mess it up again

You are not alone... struggling to finish my duck... TWICE! So take a break... build something else helps or do a different subject like I took a dive painting a figure bust and it worked for a while.

Good advice chaps. I feel like I want to build so I think I've got to make more appealing, make it feel like I want to be there

Getting the mojo up is a favorite pastime for most...including myself. Finding the one thing that help you push past it and get back in the game. I like the bench clearing/clean the shop approach a lot! Helps clear the mind and makes for a great working environment! Finishing up any reasonably unfinished projects can really make things move. I have my share of unfinished queens and grabbing one or two and banging them out give that closure to light the fire on the bench!! I also like to look through others builds on the subject I am working, especially hi-end builds....gives me some inspiration. I would give things a good cleaning, organize some of the builds into some respective piles and then take it one step at a time!!!

My solution especially if I have a lot of part finished kits is to just box them up and put them away, have a really good clean up then either build a really simple easy model straight from the box or (and this usually works for me the best) is build something totally different from your usual choices. I usually go for aircraft or subs. Always works and gets me going again, I do find sometimes that I over complicate a build or over research it instead of just building and having fun which is what it's all about.

I like the last 2 suggestions! So I now will box up a few and concentrate on one build! Jeff

i went about two years with a serious case of lack of motivation. i was still building but everything was forced and i just didnt care about the finish. late last year i told myself i just wanted to go all in on a project. hawkenstein 2 was that project. since then the desire is back and i want to go deeper and deeper in the detail. for me it wasnt something simple, it was something that to most would have seemed like overkill.

That's it right there! I think we all sometimes tend to over complicate or over research and tend to get bogged down. I think we sometimes put too much pressure on ourselves for those reasons and more and forget about the last 8 words in the above quote. Having fun which is what it's all about.
