Hi there... My Junkers Ju52* will need some decals of course. Ive seen some finished models and Im wondering if you can prevent "silvering" at all on surfaces like corrugated metal - and the Junkers got loads of those. Its gonna be an individual plane and for this reason I have to use loads of different decals. Theres two possibilities, I guess: >make everything from masks, but were they sprayed on the real planes too?! >use gloss coat, decals and TONS of softener. Softener? I got the followiung here: >Mr Mark Setter/Softer >Humbrol >Revell *WIP: modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/thread/5087/czech-figure-toot-wing-installed?page=1Any tips for me? Dont want to give the decals a roasting. Cheers and thanks in advance! Lucas.

On my Ford Tri-Motor I just followed the basics which is gloss coat, then apply the decal and then seal with another coat of gloss coat... then dull cote. I used a lot of Microscales Micro Set on those decals so they went down flat against the corrugated surface... the same as the JU-52. Any irregular surface gets the Micro Set, just how much depends on what the decal will tolerate. HTH Jeff

I have had very good luck with Solvaset in the past. It is pretty strong, so it might dissolve some decals.

Thanks. Maybe its best if I try some spare decals on a spare piece first instead of "fire and forget"

Solvaset is the best stuff for getting decals to lay down on complex surfaces. You may need to apply it more than once and gently (emphasis on gently!) prod the decals to settle down properly into the corrugated grooves. Gloss coat, solvaset, gloss coat and you shouldn't have any silvering.
