This was the very first time I used "Patafix" for masking. To achieve the typical "Falke" pattern (that is quite the same like the German WW2 nightfighter pattern, I guess) I did the following: >first of all I made some "snakes" out of Patafix for the borders and placed them quite randomly >goes round and round of course >after that, I made some very small bowls >again(!)the rear end of a brush was helpful - I made some small circles in the "snakes", the "bowls" - again randomly. >then the bottom and every place that needs no color was taped wih Tamiya tape ...sounds simple, but youll need a bit patience. I dont claim to be the first one who did it like that or even invented it. But maybe this small SBS here is helpul for someone who wants to try it, too (like me ) The masked spots left and right of the cockpt are spots for a "nose art" at the left (belly art, if you want ) and killing tags at the right. I think the hardest part is done

To be honest, that mask job looked pretty sketchy...but the end result is awesome!! How long did it take to apply all of the rings/whirls/swirls/whorls?

I knew that one of the pictures from the B-17 I shot in Pooler/GA would be helpful at some day.

EDIT: Ooops. I recognized that the link is only working, if youll copy it manually. Sorry.

Engine was painted with Testors Burnt Metal: ...and the areas around the chargers and the area in front of the engine were masked with Maskol... ...to prepare the painting " a la rusty style"

I will. Right now, Im trying to fill every rivet and every panel line with ink. This is wiped away then and there you go: structurized! Ive seen this quite often now at certain models and hesitated, to be honest. In fact, it looks a bit exaggerated maybe. Well - an exception for the Falke can be made.

Last update for today. Ladies and Gentlemen, please note that Mrs. Amelia Steam* made it back on the bench. After some unwanted contact with hard edges which resulted in chipping she needed a repaint. Originally planned as a "stand alone figure" she was rewarded seeing "action" here in the Falke scenery. She fits (almost) in scale. I am aware that she is a bit "steampunkish" and the Falke itself is "Dieselpunk", that means its the later technology based on WW2 vehicles etc. But I dont care, the figure looks great, was expensive enough (almost the same costs like the Falke!!!) and therefore she just deserves to be here, does she? *http://modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/thread/5836/capt-amelia-steam-75mm-scale75?page=1
