Well I suppose its kinda inevitable- wot with most of us being gents of a certain age or older
... now it would appear its my turn;

I 've just been diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnoea- short version: I stop breathing for extended periods of time when I'm asleep- but this then causes me to wake up abruptly and consequently I don't get a decent nights sleep- and haven't for about the last 8 months. All of this then means I'm at a higher risk of Cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and a range of other nasties -oh delights

Treatment to start very soon

Sheet mate, so sorry to hear that.

A friend of mine has that issue, he sleeps with a sort of mask connected to an air machine or something, worrying stuff.

I feel for ya Paul,and I know exactly what its like.A good mate of mine has that,as well as 8 or 9 other things,and he has to wear an Oxygen mask when he's asleep.As for the breathing part,Mine's got worse since I gave up the smokes,and I get sommat like that some nights!

Paul,i was diagnosed with the same thing 4 years ago.Still use the C-PaP machine and it really helped a lot.Wishing you well mate.

As long as you use the CPAP things should turn out fine; this does not minimize getting used to wearing the thing at night tho. Sympathy and best wishes

I tried out the mask in clinic this morning- its not overly claustrophobic but will still take a bit of getting used to.
I'm already making "lifestyle adjustments" to deal with my dodgy cholesterol, and have managed to shed best park of 5 kilos in the last 6 weeks or so- so its all bloody change here.
Dicky as for going mad- would we actually even notice or worry?
Any anyway isn't it kinda a pre-requisit for spending large amounts of cask h on lumps of plastic & resin

Heck,can ya tell me how you lost the weight???I've put that much 'n more on since I gived up the smokes!!!I breathed better when I was smoking,just coughing a helluva lot more.....

You get used to it Paul. I have one too...I use just the nasal one, albeit, I only get about 4 hours a night of sleep. The first week sucked, I won't lie to you. Just the alien type creature on your face. But after that, piece of cake. There are hundreds of masks so if one does not work, ask about changing it! Also, there is other items that help as well like a 'Wedge' I heard about from a fellow modeller. Seems to work well for him.

Christ mate that's no fun, my mate & brother in law have the same thing and both sleep with a mask now, they reckon they could give darth vader a run for his money!Hope it works out for you.

Hope you get well with help... can't imagine the feeling of loosing sleep for that long. Sometimes I stay up so late for several nights especially when I start a new kit but it hits me hard in few days so I can't imagine how you are feeling after many months of little sleep.
