I have one of the original '80's issues of this kit that I tracked down on eBay a few years ago (when I was in a phase to re-acquire kits I built in my youth that didn't stand a fighting chance against my skills as an 11 year old). They were really revolutionary at the time as it was one of the first kits to introduce the "platform" style interior where the door panels were molded as separate pieces (making detailing much easier) rather than being cast all in one "tub" as had been the practice (and still is the practice for a lot of low-budget Fujimi kits) prior to the '66 Nova.
I build shiny Factory Stock for the most part, but I love a good beating and abuse of a perfectly good model kit by someone that knows how to weather...which this forum seems to have in spades.

LOVE the Nova. Is the the kit you got at BayCon ?? Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one. BTW, the year long GB is on Armorama- Kit Maker the Auto section. If you have a car kit and are interested in joining the GB, go on over there and jump right in. I, or T will get a link to it if you need it.

ER GO FOR IT!! I say this know Bruce is correct...up until, I think 1984 or somewhere around there, all corvettes we supplied with a fiberglass outer shell, after 84-ish they started using some "space-age" composite material. With that said, there is still metal on the car...chassis, floor boards, some fender wells!! There is ALWAYS rust to be had!! LOL!! Plus the finish does not have to look any better because it is fiberglass: 75....looks like S**T...LOL!! Looks like rust but I think its moldy stuff or the panels were replaced by inferior metal skins 67 engine compartment same car....the red is primer but the bumpers aren't!! Just what the license plate looks like it says "FUN"

Well I've read the rules, it should be new... not a started kit. I'll just have to look for bargain car kit in the meantime..
