Afternoon folks,
Well, where to begin. I was so happy to finish the MK1 in time for the competition in Orlando and i was very happy with the results but it did seem like a bit of an anti-climax. Since finishing i feel like i have gone through a relationship break up. Every day for two years i have been thinking about the MK1, design, materials, construction, wiring, paint, detailing, assembly, weathering, it has been a constant in my life, but now i have finished there seems to be a large hole left there and its not as easy as just replacing it with a new model, its as if i've lost a very close friend.
I've tried to start one of the projects i mentioned in my interview, the williams, but because i am just following instruction i feel like its almost too easy and i'm cheating in some way and i mean no disrespect but my brain just seems to work differently. I did sculpt my kayaks but i used the wrong foam so that fell flat, i just can't seem to get motivated on any project right now.
Also, sadly my step Father passed away two weeks ago from cancer so i have been in a bit of a funk lately.
Every time i sit at my bench i just wish i had the MK1 to work on because then i would know what to do next.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Take care
A Mojo-less
Gag

Very sorry to hear about your step father. One day you will find your mojo... sounds like you are born to scratch build just like Dicky and some guys here.

Very sorry for your loss! I know exactly how you feel when a project you've poured everything into comes to a close...you need something to occupy that 'void' and it's tough to do if you don't have something that's equally interesting or challenging as what you've just completed. It's as if you've reached a new level and you want to keep going upward, not backward. The key would be to find a project that allows you to do something new/interesting with it...even if it's something as simple as a new kind of base or groundwork, working on figures, or tackling a type of paint scheme you've never tried before. You need a 'spark' that keeps the mojo flame going just like it did on the Mk.I. You'll find it, just don't try to force it until you do!

My condolences Tony on the passing of your Step-dad! Never easy but this do have a way of coming around after a bit.
Not sure what help I can offer in the mojo way...we all do get there from time to time. I usually will troll builds and plenty of pic research sometimes brings me around! Hang out at MSC a while shoot the poo...never know, it may just jump back at ya!!
We are all here brotha'!! Say the word!

Sorry to hear about your step dad. How did the Mk.1 do in Orlando? Well, I hope?
As far as mojo, have you ever thought about scratching a kit? Your skills are certainly where they need to be, and Star Wars resin kits fetch a looooot of money. Regain your motivation on some good scratched sci-fi-ness, make a few bucks in the process, AND the rest of us get awesome resin kits to build?

Sorry to hear about the loss of your step-dad Tony, always a sad time when we lose someone we care about. Hope you feel better soon. Don't forget, your MSC family is always here for you!! Bit of a bugger about the mojo, I have lost mine from time to time and it sux. One thing tho, you can't force it, it will come back of it's own accord. While I am not a mega scratcher like yourself, I have a few ideas which work for me and may be of some help. 1. Try knocking together a small, easy kit, completely OOB. When my mojo was a bit pear shaped, I put together a little Italeri 1/72 OH-58D and it worked a treat. I am now hooked on 1/72 choppers!! 2. Build a "what if". These are a lot of fun and you don't have to worry about accuracy. For a wingyist like myself, this usually involves painting up aircraft in paint schemes for countries that don't own them (such as an F-22 Raptor in Japanese markings), but it can be anything, such as "What if the Spitfire was Britain's first jet fighter?", "What if the Tiger was developed by the Americans in WW2 instead of the Germans? A Tiger with an American gun?", "What if WW2 happened 100 years later in 2039?" As you can guess, there are a bajillion what-if permutations out there. Plus, as a modeller, it's fun to mess with history!! 3. Go the other way and design and build something that will really stretch your design and modelling skills. I have always wanted to design and build a Battlemech (Goole Image Search: Battlemech=AWESOME!! ) with full cockpit and lots of panels open up to show internals. I always felt it would be a challenge to make something that not only stands up on its own, but also looks "realistic" and purposeful. I think with your awesome modelling skills, you would make this a ferkin' amazing project!! Ennyweigh, just some rambling thoughts from my tiny brain, hope they may be helpful in some little way.... Hope you get yer mojo back soon, we miss you!! Cheers, Sam
