Well folks, here is my next project……Industria Mechanika’s rendition of Ian McQue's Remora. This is a 1/35 resin and PE dream boat and measures about 260mm in length without all the rigging and jib etc. It is well case, and will require a little work to clean-up before assembly (which is ongoing at ‘slow-time’). Haven’t a lot of bench time lately so decided to make a start on the diorama in which it will be mounted, and then construction of Remora can follow over the Christmas period. Basic idea here was using another of Industria Mechanika’s Ian McQue's kits the ‘Sky Mark’ as inspiration, I decided to run up some sort of bruised and battered ‘beacon’ using parts from the spares box. Basic form used a multi-CD box as a plaster mould to create a concrete base(sandpaper inner face for texture), and the rest is fairly self-explanatory, build up as I went. The outcrop is a landing platform with some form of refuling hoses. A few finishing touches here and there, but it is ready for a coat of primer. So here are some pictures so far. (by the way, the bolt heads are from Meng's new bots set, very nice, but a real PITA to cut off). Hope you all like, and as always comments most welcome. I’ll be keeping an eye on Ron’s (rondriaan) build ‘the boys are back in town’ for inspiration. Chris.

Bolts set? Where can you order that? lll need that! Good luck with the Remora, mate... Saw a few WIPs and everyone said that thres loads to do and casting quality is not too good sometimes. Anyway - a VERY good start with that base - I love it already. Heres another WIP: www.phoxim.de/forum/index.php?topic=5594.0

Your right there Mence, took me about 3 weeks. (Better get moving on it, Mengs New Bradley will need my attention,
Lucas, thanks for the link, I'll check it out. The quality is 100%, I had heard similar reviews about the quality, but I believe my one came out of 'new moulds'. Check out Creative Models in the UK for the bolts, I got mine from Hannants but I think they are out of stock.
Thanks all for stopping by.
Chris.

Thanks Chaps, not much progress with the Christmas period and work, but back at the bench so here is a small update. Working away cleaning up the sections and beginning to assemble some of the key components. The masts where a bit twisted, so I decided to scratch up some replacements with aluminium tube. I also got some RB brass accessories (compass stand, 3-way horn, pulleys etc.) to replace some of the resin parts. Also got a timber ladder to add to the deck accessories. Happy modelling, Chris,

Cheers folks, I do love these type of kits. Imagine can run wild, knowing when to stop is the trick.
Still deciding on cargo, obscure/off-the-wall suggestions most welcome.
Chris.

Hdey Pete, thanks for dropping by. Am totally enjoying this kit, loads of room for my imagine to run wild ! Well, here is a small update. Some parts replaces with white card & RB Model brass, a new mast 'thingy' added at the rear, horn added to wheel house and a start on some cargo. Chris.

Thanks Dicky, i have these bad-boys for the crew. I am thinking the base will not be water but a sand. Ian McQue's art work for his 'large barge' looks a bit like a mad-max post nuclear desert wasteland, so I think I will go down that route. Hi Mr Gag, it certainly is. Thanks for stopping by, I really love Industria Mechanika's stuff and quality is super. Chris.
