Hello, modelglue here!
I hail from the South Western Ontario region, in Canada for those of you who don't already know. I have been a model collector and builder since the age of 7, which means I've been at it for 27 years now. My first kit was a Boeing Clipper from Airfix my Grandad bought me on the cheap which I mercilessly glued together on the kitchen table.
I currently enjoy 1/72 scale subjects starting with WW2 aircraft and vessels and I move through those subjects into modern stuff and Sci-fi items from Macross and other developed future cultures.
I mention 1/72 because aside from the odd 28mm Heroic stuff I delve into that is my main focus and I tend not to build anything outside of that constant. I like to see a B-52 and a spitfire side by side on a display board and know that the ratio is true. This obviously limits my interests and subject matter quite a bit, but, the flipside of that is the generous diversity available in the scale.
I've got 250+ kits of various manufacture and genre in the stash, with just a handful painted and displayed. My typical favourites include RoG items of newer vintage and if you were to scan over my collection you'd no doubt see a handful of clumps of genres. WW2 German, WW2 Coastal command, WW2 USAAF, Modern USAF, WW2 Japanese, and a collection of Variable Fighters and Battroids from the Macross universe.
I tend to be a bit careful with my purchases, trying only to collect and build kits with recessed panel lines and decent canopies. I tend to stick to OOB builds as I enjoy a certain familiarity and congruence within my displayed collection. This means I don't spring for aftermarket goodies, and while some kits come with option like photo etch detail and vac-form canopies, I tend to use the styrene renditions instead if available.
I'll post a photo of said stash once the light gets better!

Guys, Thanks very much for the warm welcome. I already like it here. AS for the pics I promised earlier: This is my macross collection of unbuilt kits, with the exception of the VF-27b kit which is bottom row second column from left. My work space with the collection of 1/72 aircraft and vessels. I have a few tanks as well but they are put away for now. The white desk on the left is my clipping, cutting, sanding, gluing, casting, drilling, and grinding station. I keep this area for production and the area to the right with the stainless top is strictly for mixing and airbrushing my models. You can see the air compressor and ultrasonic cleaner to the left and my paint storage drawers on the right.
This is a small casting area I use to make resin copies of odds and ends. I have a pressure pot that I converted from a paint sprayer and I use legos to build my rubber mold boxes. This Kingdom will eventually all give way to an entertainment area in the basement, with an auxiliary bedroom and bar kitchenette. Hopefully by then my stash will be converted into display case worthy models. My plan is to build a 2'x2'x6' (LxWxH) case with adjustable height shelves of glass. The base dimension has to be big enough for that whopping 1/72 B-52 mentioned earlier.

Welcome aboard my Canadian friend! I have to ask you where exactly in SW part of Ontario because that's where my parents spend five months every year at the lake house in Fort Erie.
Dig the man cave you got! Any good model shops in the area because I am coming to Fort Erie next week for a week. LOL

Hey there DP, I am in the London Region, St Thomas specifically. If you are driving from Indiana I have to assume you would be crossing the Ambassador Bridge bewteen Detroit and Windsor (where I grew up). In Windsor, you have "Windsor Hobbies". Nothing spectacular and a bit off the highway to justify a side trip. When you get on the 401 your best bet is to get to London, where McCormicks, AVF Hobbies, and Broughdale Hobbies all reside. I'd reverse that order in terms of my favourites, but AVF is the easiest to get to from the 401 and has a decent selection. They are primarily an R/C shop, but have model kits too. If you are in town and have time to kill, visit McCormicks, but bring your wallet as they are the spendiest of the trio due to their downtown location and well stocked store. Broughdale has the nicest store owners and has that charming hobby shop feel despite the age of the building they rent. I think Northstar Hobbies is still in operation just East of Mississauga but that is realllly far out and if I were you I wouldn't bother with the Toronto traffic. That pretty well sums up my SWO hobby shop knowledge, You might have to google Niagara Falls or Fort E as I have only been to NF twice in my lifetime and on neither occasion was I able to wander looking for model kits. If you are taking highway 3 in lieu of the 401, and pass through St Thomas, wave to your left as you pass First Ave. LOL.

AWESOME!!! We usually take the I-70 or I-90 to Buffalo thru Ohio but once a while we would take that 401 route especially in the summer. So will keep that in mind... thanks!!!
There's not much to shop in Fort Erie or Niagara Falls on the Canada side. There's a great shop in NF on USA side called ACE Hobby Shop. Its pretty good... plenty of reference books too if you ever come to Niagara Falls. LOL

...dont think you will be disapointed great cave you have too fella Dan B Thanks, and so far I haven't. The spits in my collection will probably see the light long before any B-52, mostly because I don't have a spot to hold it yet! Don't worry though, Steve, The display case I am planning is just as important to me as my models. Here is a spit to whet your appetites: Cheers Guys.
