Nothing earthshattering...but the Challenger got its gloss coat last night ahead of decals and weathering.

The decals (allthough six of them) really bring some life into it. The base does too.

Now that's a very cool looking Chally there mate, really like what you are doing with it. Groundwork gives a cool touch as well. And neat photography, love that plain white background
Cheers

Near seems a shame to dirty that tank up doogsatx, you've done a supreme job on the Challenger's paint work mate and the base looks very interesting to say the least. Looking forward to the end product and I hope you don't mind if I tag along as I brought one of these kits not long ago.

Last night I sealed the decals and tore through first stage weathering. I typically use oils, but this time around I'm giving Vallejo's washes a try as my base wash, since I won't have to worry about further oils and enamel work removing said base. Overall, subtle, and a tendency to tide marks if you're not careful. I was particularly impressed with how it brought out the detail in the barrel's thermal wrap.

Too wet and cold to airbrush last night, so the 262 got sidelined in favor of some Challenger time. Specifically, dot filtering. I think I need to swap in a black background. The green is just too dark getting the exposure right with the white background is proving troublesome.

Proof once again that it doesn't take a bucket-load of AM to get great results.

Last night I discovered that I had the wrong size masks for the 262's balkenkreuz, so back to the Challenger to do filtering on the turret. I switched to a black background for photos to bring down the dynamic range and help the effects of the oils show up better. My Accurate Armor beacon lights finally showed up, too, but I'm pretty sure they sent me the red ones by mistake, as opposed to amber. Considering how long it took for them to show, I'm going to see if I can run down a stateside supplier, otherwise I have no chance of getting the proper amber ones until well after Modelfiesta.

Doogs, Chally is freakin awesome bro! Chally 1 is a damn sexy lookin tank.....i got to get one now! Yeah, it's definitely my favorite modern-era tank, looks-wise. Very sleek, but still randomly rough around the edges in several places. The Abrams/Leopard 2/Chally 2/Merkava just don't do the same thing for me. Glad I've got a desertized Mk.3 to play around with later on...
