The Chally is off the base again for finishing work. First...the side skirts are FINALLY attached. Second, it's been pointed out that the tank seems too clean. I'm inclined to agree. Still trying to get an "order of weathering" sorted out in my head. But I went back last night with AK's Dark Brown Wash. Might be a bit heavy on the spill-fender, but I can blend it later, and pigments on top will knock it down somewhat. On the fenders, the brown wash was streaked, adding a nice complement to the more prominent streaks already in place.

I like the look of wet snow on the left... plenty of that right now here in Indiana.

Outstanding Brother Doogs! I have some Precision Ice & Snow and like you i found it awesome for fresh powdered snow, but as i was trying to replicate a partial melt and refreeze type look and i couldnt get that at all with the Precision Ice & Snow. The Woodland Scenics worked awesome for that.

Re-Futured the snow again last night...happy with it and the tufts now. I also moved into the next phase of the mud - laid down some MIG Dark Mud pigment, then went over it with wet effects fluid. It's definitely closer to the slightly red-tinted mud in my reference photo, IMO it's a bit too stark a difference, and a bit too shiny, so I'm going to go back over with more AK Earth Effects to blend the tones, then consider a few blends of Vallejo clears to pick out the wet from the merely damp.

Last night it was back to the tank with pigments - specifically MIG Europe Dust, Russian Earth and Fresh Mud. The Fresh Mud was applied to the tracks, wheels, lower skirts and hull, and topped with MIG Wet Effects fluid. Also got some things like the head and taillights painted. Still a few things left to do - finish out the cupola machine gun, weather and add the ammo boxes beside it. Detail and weather some stowage for the turret bins. Smooth out a bit of the mud on the base. Hopefully I'll be putting the finishing touches on over the next two or three days. Then I can get back to the MiG-21F-13 and on to my next armor project...

Came together very nicely Doogs. The mud/slush look is just right between the ruts in the road and the skirts and of course the juxtaposition with the snow just ups the visual contrast. All ties together just right, enjoyed watching this one come together.
