the postman dropped off my latest box from Hobbyeasy yesterday morning. in that box were these 3 beauties the Char 2C is my fave of the bunch, so I am starting with it the first step is to assemble 10,000 roadwheels. then add them to the bottom hull. the shame is that most of this work will be hidden by a skirt and the tracks when complete. the tracks just click together, so I took care of them early on. I stuck most of the major bits together just to see how it looks. I would say really good. I think I am going to have some fun building this one.

Looking forward to seeing this monster come to life. That's a lot of road wheels but at least they are steel! Glad to see they went with the click-together tracks for this, ought to make weathering/detailing them much easier.

I got most of the fittings on the sponsons glued on. I have to wait until tuesday before I can do much more because I need to paint some bits before moving on. this kit really falls together, so far there have been no issues at all. I stuck all the major bits together and "tried"get the tracks to stay on.

Hey Dylan, caught your post over on that "other" forum about the suspension snafu on this kit. I can't believe they did that!
For those wondering and confused, I'll let Dylan explain when he posts again .....

meh haters gonna hate. some people treat these things like somebodys life depends on it being a perfect copy of the real thing. I usually build models for fun. anyway here is an update. I had to paint a little bit of black under the screens, and I ended up painting most of the sponsons and horribly inaccurate undercarriage in black primer. I still have a couple of tiny bits to add, and a few little items to fix. then its on to paint. thanks for the encouragement guys. cheers Dylan

Dylan, sorry to hear someone is pirating your pictures around. I wish you had posted them here though. I've seen a fair amount of interest in this kit, and it is a pretty big blunder for anyone who does strive for accuracy in their builds.
For those interested, the center 16 or 20 road wheels are supposed to be grouped in bogies of four, supported by leaf springs. Meng opted to leave all that out, and used a solid mount system. There's no problem as long as you model the kit with the lower dust shields on. If, however, you want to leave them off (as shown in many photos of a Yahoo image search), you've got a lot of work to do.
Now, back to the business at hand.. Your build is coming along great. The PE touches will really help the final look.

can anyone see the pictures I posted? they all still show up on my 2 computers. even though I deleted the entire gallery. this is more an issue with the hosting site than anything. I will re upload them tomorrow if they arent showing up. steve zaloga posted a nice bunch of drawings hereI guess there are supposed to be a bunch of springs and stuff that cant be seen when the whole thing is together. but they are missing so there is a bit of a kerfuffle about it. the Tamiya char B has the same setup.

Nice to see this monster continuing onward Dylan! As for the 'missing' details, I suppose that's what AM companies are for...and the fact that we even have a styrene Char 2C is a miracle in its own right.

I havent forgotten about this one. I need a couple of hours to fix a few things then its off to paint. I am going to go with the dark olive scheme because it seems like that was the most common. and I can put a big skull and bones on the turret.

I am just about to paint it I have the option of an overall olive grey or two tone green and tan schemes. the two tone is the nicer looking of the two but...it doesnt seem that it was one that was used very long and only on the one vehicle. the overall dark olive grey seems to be the one they spent most of their lives painted in, but it is kind of boring. so I am putting it to all of you to help me decide. here is a link to the painting guide ,so you know what I am talking about. cheers Dylan www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10250933t2/60/2

I can see the appeal with the Alsace scheme for sure...either way you've got a lot of canvas to play with on this beast so I'm sure the end result won't be boring!

well I got about half as much as I wanted to get done today. as usual I found a bunch of things that needed to be fixed before priming. but I got primer on it, still a few bits to fix. I am probably going to leave the main gun and the tube above it unglued until a turned metal one comes out. either way I go on the paint it is going to be a really neat looking model when its done
