Hi All, I am looking at the Anigrand Craftworks - Raytheon Sentinel R.1. It is a 1/72 mainly resin kit and has a scary price tag. www.anigrand.com/AA2117_Sentinel_R-1.htmJust wondering if any MSC'ers have any experience in Anigrand kits? Thanks in advance, Chris.

Hi Chris, Anigrand are pretty good, although I have heard they do have their fit issues on some kits here and there. The Sentinel looks to be pretty nice though, if first impressions are anything to go by. And, as is the norm for Anigrand and their small scale aircraft, they throw in extra (usually quite eclectic) aircraft! Bewdy mate! Have a look at this review, should give you some confidence in your buy... www.hyperscale.com/2011/reviews/kits/anigrandaa2097reviewpb_1.htmCheers, Sam

Sam,
Really appreciate the pointer to a review. I am still sitting on the fence given the cost, but it should be a decent size even at 1/72 with a length of about an A3 page.
Second question for all you MSC'ers out there is...what colour should it be? RAF Camouflage (Barley) Grey looks to be what the E-3D is painted, and the Sentinel looks to be a similar colour.
Thanks again Sam.
Chris,

Hi Chris, No worries mate! It actually looks like pretty good value, even given the cost (considering it is all resin, and a good fit at that), especially with the 3 additional resin kits thrown in. Keep in mind that it is only 1/144, not 1/72. With the real aircraft at 30.3m long, the 1/144 kit equates to around 210mm, or the width of an A4 sheet. Dunno if that helps you make up your mind! As for the colour, can't really help there I'm afraid! You will need to do some more "internetting" for that unless one of the other fellas can help.... Cheers, Sam

Me too Dicky.……
Only 61 parts, and apparently not much clean up, so it should take shape fairly quickly. Me thinking a nice acrylic base from JonP will do the trick also.

OH No the specter of the "easy kit" is rising. Seriously Good Luck; it should make a great model of a less mainstream aircraft. Keep those build reports coming in.

Hi Chris, the colour of the Sentinel would be closer to BS381c 626 Camouflage Grey. Raytheon's unit that converted these from business jets is in the UK and they'll have used the current RAF paint stock. I've also seen one parked up next to a Typhoon and there's no perceptible difference in the colour post up some pics of the kit when you get it please buddy

Hi Steve (Prop Duster), I was thinking the same as I was typing 'only 61 parts' ! Fingers crossed clean up won't be to much work.
Stevem, that is brilliant, thanks for clarifying to colours, just so happens that the colour I have ordered with a darker shade the lumps and bumps.
Looks like it won't be here till Monday, Royal Mails 48 delivery from Tuesday still has it in England!
Chris.

Stressful week in work, so am not getting too hyped up about it and taking it as a hint to crack on with Remora (received some brass accessories from RB Models that only took 2 days !!!!!), so that's tomorrow's work ! Just a sneaky peek of the kit. Bit of a monster with really well cast parts with very little clean-up envisaged. Only disappointing thing was that the vac-formed canopy and windows where missing from the kit. hopefully that can be resolved quickly. Chris.

Thanks Dicky, you are right big lump of resin with a big price tag, but real nice and looks like it will go together real nice.
Stevem, all sorted. Hannants came back to me within hours with replacement offer, so replacement hopefully on its way to me very quickly.
Chris.

Here is some more pictures of the kit, nice detail all round. Here is the only part (so far) that I am unsure off, the trailing edge towards the tips of the wings is not tapered, sitting about 1mm to 2mm in thickness. I thought there may have been sections to put in here but not so. Just wondering if any aircraft experts out there would know if this is correct. (alternatively, I can take a run down to the Bombardier factory in Belfast and ask!). I do not think filing down the edges but this will distort the wing surface or I could try and use filler and taper off. Chris,

Can't help with yer tech issue there CB0423 but the detail on the rest of it looks very crisp fella and everything looks straight too Yep, very straight indeed for resin. I ran a straight edge over the larger parts, and nothing out of line.…… they also do a 1/72 C-17 mmmmmmmm ! To be honest, I might just leave the trailing edges as they are, it's nice as it is, and starting to fiddle with it may just lead to disaster. Chris.

Hi Chris, Hannants came up good then Ref ref the trailing edge, it should be a continuous line from fuse to tip, no step or so thick. I've seen this before on some resin kits and it's due to limitations in the mould, casting process (I'm told!) I would file the face smooth and superglue a strip of plastic to it, then shape this to form the fine edge and finish the beautiful line of the wing. have a look at the pic below ,for reference only!

Cheers Steve for the picture, a bit of white card filed down it is. Will, I dry fitted the winglet and the gap is just to noticeable, don't think my initial leave it be approach will work. Thanks for dropping by.
Chris.
