Thanks for riding along, fellas!
Somtec - sounds good. I'm mostly after markings/paint info, so those should help out a lot.

I was not a big fan of IDF AFVs, but last few month it start to interest me. I think I saw everything in AFV, but look... here is new conversion I will follow this one.

So am I, Bill! As soon as I clear the three builds I'm weathering simultaneously off of my bench, I'm going to haul out the DML M50 and see how well things mate up. If things look good, I see no reason not to press on.

Cool! Hadn't come across several of these. This one sure has a lot of different vehicles in it - may have to drag out an M109 while I'm at it. This one accompanying one of the bridges being towed to the suez canal for the crossing 73 The ambulances seem mostly devoid of markings in these shots. Was sort of hoping for a huge red-and-white cross. Will keep poking around to see if I can find any "official" info.

Interesting. I'm trying to track down a copy of Verlinden's Warmachines #4 - looks like it should have some info (and definitely pics).
Anyone happen to have a copy?

Excellent! Would love to see what's in there. So no luck with additional info? That's unfortunate.

Dupes my understanding IDF ambulances didn't really advertise back then.
Anything first aid related could be seen with a RED Star of David, usually solid red on a white background. Later on, '80's ?, that became the ambulance marking, a white disc with a red Star of David within.
My time there was really brief and my memory is a bit clouded as the visit involved much alcohol...........

Unfortunately there aren't many references for this thing - not even finding completed builds from people who might have had better resources than me.

Jeez Marc... come up for air once in a while. How do you stay that good at that pace?

Damn, I go to plow some snow, and there's a mountain of references when I come back! Will check all of these out when I get to the laptop. And if the consensus is push on with this guy, that can be arranged! Wingy - yep, coffee and cheese.

While I dig the OD scheme on this one (a lot!), it isn't an M4. That's an M577 - M113 chassis. Had I known the IDF used them, I would have used those markings on the one that's 75% done on my bench!

I know it is not the same variant. but it does illustrate the earlier kind of marking that someone (AgentG?) mentioned in his post.

I may have to incorporate that somehow, then. Would REALLY set it apart with those markings! (and make it very clear that it's an ambulance conversion)
