Nice! I was asking about the availability of a pre-Zimmed 1/35 Sturm the other day - no luck. I'm VERY interested in this kit. I like the occasional Quarter Scale build and I've heard good thing about AFV Club! How does the 1/35 AFV Club Sturm stand up against the Tamiya Sturm guys? Dragon should get their butt's in gear and release a pre-Zimmed Sturm instead of another Pz.III or StuG variant - I know I'd buy one! Keep the updates coming dude! Ben Edit: I've just noticed that this kit DOESN'T come pre-zimmed but it's no big or fiddly job adding Zim to a 1/48 Tiger. Your kit looks like it was bought with the Zim on it! You say you used 'Pyro'? I've not heard of that before?

hi hinksy, the kits rear back plate is already covered in zimmerit, but you have to do the rest yourself! i used a pyrogravure, its like a mini soldering iron, historex agents sell them, not sure how much? ive had mine years!! Ive made a couple of the tamiya 1:48, tiger 1, sherman firefly, the afv club are just as good BUT!! the tracks are the rubber band type,(afv club),i have been trying to get hold of aftermarket set, the annoying thing is AFV CLUB actually produce two sets of track for the tiger, early and late version. but you have to buy them seperately!! the elefant is the 1:72nd dragon kit with added zimm!!

I've got this same kit. I've been holding off on it until I can talk myself into doing the zim. I'd love to hear their rationale behind not doing the sides since they did the front and back plates.

Cheers dude, First off - love your work - I must start doing more 1/48 again and adding a lot of scratched detail. WHY would they Zimm the back end and leave the rest? Easily sorted - is the 1/35 version Zimmed in anyway? How are these things for flash, ejector marks and general crappiness? Their newer stuff looks QUALITY (ie Duster) but not sure on these older kits? I've got a set of 1/48 Tiger I Friuls that would do the job NICELY - no way would it be getting rubber bands! I've never heard of a Pyro thingy - I've seen the exact thing but it was called something else (very similar). TEMPTED! Ben

cheers!! no idea about the 1:35th , but the 1:48th kits are very clean, hardly any flash and no pin marks. i have noticed that on the box top it states; HIGHLY DETAILED ENGINE COMPARTMENT, ummm must have missed this out on my kit! everything else is ok, apart from tracks. do you have a price for the friuls? and i would deffo get hold of a pyro, great for weld seams battledamage, and even hair on plastic figures!! not to mention zimmerit,

got the paint started, used red oxide for primer, than vallejo dk yellow,025,its the best match to RAL 7028,I have found, got to leave it to dry,24hrs, so ive started on the crew, MIG produtions ss at rest, superb figures no flash apart from where the heads are attached to the moulding lugs, easy clean up. will apply camo tommorow night, so far so good, pity can,t say the same about the weather!!!! whoops!! forgot the heads!!

cheers!! apart from tracks. do you have a price for the friuls? I'm in England and they seem to be a pretty firm £25 + post. I've seen some 1/48's cheaper but the Tiger I links in 1/48 are bigger than a lot of 1/35 scale links So I doubt you'll find them cheaper! I'll deffo keep an eye out for a Pyro thingy! Ben

Got to say this bad boy looks great you've done a fine job with her. Two things sir number one I've got a real liking for these 1/48 kits but have never built one and two, I love a Sturm Tiger any day of the week, got a little number in the stash waiting to break out. Anyway you carry on sir
