Does such a list exist? Having been doing more armour than aircraft of late I am not used to working with enamels and had some difficulties. Since there may be more Luftwaffe aircraft in my future I was wonder if anyone has comes across a list of formulas to mix the RLM colors with Tamiya paint.

I sure haven't seen one but I'm hoping someone will find one.
I just wish Tamiya would make a full range of RLM colors. I had just started falling in live with enamels, but not having a spray booth in not sure I want to use them indoors.

Marc, I don't know if there is a list but I have something that might help. Do you have an Iphone or Ipad? If you do, there is an app called imodelkit that you can down load for free. It will enable you to match RLM colors using Tammy paint. If I remember right, if you don't have an Iphone or pad you can download it through ITunes. I haven't tried that. Hope this helps.

From the colorblind guy who relies 100% on formulas like these: RLM65 - XF-23 RLM70 - XF-62 (50%) + XF-49 (50%) or XF-27 or XF-13 RLM71 - XF-61 RLM74 - XF-27(70%) + XF-19(30%) RLM75 - XF-54 + XF-51 (unknown %ages) RLM76 - XF-23 (60%) + XF-2 (40%) and Tamiya's own suggestions for each (from kit instructions): RLM 02:- XF22:1 + XF49:1 RLM 65:- XF23:1 + XF2:1 RLM 70: XF27 RLM 71:- XF62:1 + XF49:1 RLM 74:- XF24:3 + XF27:2 RLM 75:- XF24:5 + XF50:1 RLM 76:- XF2:7 + XF23:1 + XF66:2 RLM 79:- XF59:3 + XF64:1 RLM 80:- XF58 RLM 81:- XF51:1 + XF64:2 RLM 82:- XF5 or XF5:1 + XF2:1 or XF5:1 +XF3:1 (Bright Green) RLM 83:- XF61 or XF24:1 + XF51:1 (Dark Green)

Copied, thanks!
Though I have to say MKI eyeball system ain't that bad here also. As with every colour there have been and will always be deviations in production. During WWII these have been sometimes also pretty harsh.
Cheers, Tobi

Hey... thanks for all the responses guys Jeff, I don't have an Iphone but do have Itunes on the PC. I'll try that. Marc... I could kiss your little shaved head. But I won't Thanks pal-o-mine. Copied and stored safely away. Agree 100% Tobi on the variations bit. I NEVER get into that discussion when the rivet counters come out to play

Dupes, feel your pain on this one. For years I did armor and exclusively Tamiya. Started winging it again last year. Same frustrations. Tried a few mixes but quickly decided to suck it up and now use a full line of model master enamels for my German aircraft. I struggled with them at first getting them thinned down enough. Now able to use them with no problem. I really like the Tamiya acrylics but to me it's not worth the mixing hassles. Wish they would add a RLM color range to the line and I'd be happy as a clam. Rick

I tried enamels for the first time about a year ago, and I haven't looked back. Most people make the switch the other way...lol...not me. I just bought the entire range of RLM colors of Model Master this past weekend, just to be stocked up.
My tip for you, Rick, would be to grab some Mr. Leveling Thinner. The Model Master enamel thinner works ok for general work, but the lacquer leveling thinner is a game changer....you can even use it on Tamiya acrylics....
I downloaded that app last night....I know people moan about the colors you see on a digital screen not being an actual representation of the real life color...blah blah...but I was able to mix up some RLM 04 using Insignia Yellow and Sandgelb with the app...awesome!

Yup, absolutely try it out. You can push the Model Master enamels a pretty good ways using Mr. Leveling. I got the tip from DoogsATX. It isn't really necessary most of the time, but if you want to do some very subtle post-shading, or intricate stuff like on German aircraft it's a good go to.
I've been using general hardware store lacquer thinner for general use the past couple of days (ran out of regular thinner), and it seems to work well too. But I did extensive testing on scrap stuff just to ensure it wouldn't eat the plastic...so far so good...I'm sure at some point I'll have a catastrophe if I keep it up though.

Yes, dupes, that's it. Sprue Brothers carries it. However, they seem to go "out of stock" of it frequently. I order the big bottle of ot last time I saw they had some.

I know it has a retarder in in which is supposed to make the paint distribute more evenly. I guess it's that property that makes it so great for stretching the paint really thin.
