does anyone know how i would go about taking the rubber of these with out some SERIOUS elbow grease, or if there is some resin ones out there, Do you need to save the rubber or you have just to peel it off the metal part? If you just have to peel it, you could mount it on a drill, turn it at a slow speed and peel it with a file.

Basically all you can do is what Luigi has said. It's a long slow process. Using side cutters would damage the rims since there isn't that much rubber , so it's the motor tool or a course sanding stick.
Chassis looks great by the way.

i had taugh of that but the rim at the back is differnt its like its higher so it acts like a stopper for the rubber. its kind of a pain, but i might do that anyhow see how it turns out.
thanks any how guys,

It gets tough when the rims are like that. Get it to the high point, then switch to an old hobby knife blade use this like a lathe. Atleast these rims don't have ridges like some do, which makes it harder. Get it as close a possible, then use pigs as ash on the rims from the burnt rubber.

if i got 2 of them done i might enlist the help of mr reid to do the rest with resin, we will see, and yes pigs will defo be needed for them

Spud I thought of that too. Might be difficult because of all those holes in the rim. If any one can cast them, Steve is the man.

Sanding the Rim with the use of sanding stick or paper?? how long would that be... Spud can do it since it keeps his hands busy... LOL

Spud- there are a couple of good things about this project:
First - at least among the wrecked and rust bucket crowd there may be a tiny market for these wheels without rubber. So it may be worth the effort to produce a set.
Second- there are many wheels and only two need to be perfect because once there is a mold- no trouble making more.
Responding to your PM- work on everything but the wheels for now. I can tell you that this is very do-able!
UPDATE: I am going to work with Spud and make some Dragon Sdkfz. 7 wheels with the rubber tire removed/ burnt off.
Anyone in the US have this kit and could send me a couple of wheels? I'd like to get this moving quickly....
Steve

Nice progress Spud.
@ Steve. If I can get the kit I will take care of one of each set ( 4 wheels in all) Remember these are double wheels, two spaced and two sandwiched. Will see where I can get the kit cheap. I don't know about the Trumpy wheels if they would fit.

LOL...I've got the itch already. We can blame T for that. I do have one PZIV that I have to finish. The trailer it will sit on is what held me back in the first place.

lol not much left i can do on this until i get the wheels back, so i may be tempted to start somthing... I had to cut the glass out of the frame and that was a pain in the Ass. I also built the side of the cab and its just sitting in place for safe keeping

Guys- Spud sent the wheels over from Ireland takes a few days. I chucked them into my lathe and turned off the rubber parts. Here they are, unmodified on top, modified on the bottom. Close ups- Note that I had to drill through the hubs on a couple of types and the hubs will have to be replaced before I can start casting. It was good to make some quick progress- but these are off the front burner for a couple of days now. What do you think Spud? Any corrections are easier to make now than when I have 50 copies. Steve
