Hi guys Pretty much my first work this year and knowing me it won’t get finished anytime soon...mainly due to a lack of a mancave. It is of course work in progress. It’s the pretty nice Hobby Boss WMIK with Black Dog update and figure set. The WMIK as got it’s faults, and the BD set goes someway to making it more ‘interesting’ but still with flaws. The HB kit is an early O-WMIK from around 1997 to 2004 (OOTB suitable for Sierra Leone, Iraq, and early Afghanistan) and the BD set 'sort of' upgrades it to a later O-WMIK from 2004-2007 (ish). The BD set has parts from later WMIK versions. Between the two I hope to get an O-WMIK/E-WMIK hybrid so yes this is a ‘what if’ Rover just for fun Even the figures are post 2009 I think. Still when completed it should look cool. I deviated from the instructions and hope to end up with three sub assemblies…so far its worked just fine I have the base for the first two, chassis and body. The third will be the WMIK frame itself. Work so far (body pics to follow) ChassisEngine; this won’t be used I made it for fun. It’s a waste of good parts so will find it’s way into the spares box. Wheels; still undecided on these…do I fit (a) the kit steel wheels which are ok or do I fit (b) the BD alloy wheels which are great but have the wrong tread pattern and are the ‘wrong’ era? What do you think??? Smudge

Looking good!!! I have had issues with figures from Black Dog not long time ago for the Challenger II too and I hope those figures are better molded especially the eyes.

Hi guys I wasn’t going to do this as a build log but never mind, just don’t expect too much in the way of postings. I shaved off the rear seat mounts…wrong side you see. I added the nice tailgate stowage bin from Black Dog. By deviating from the instructions I managed to achieve the marrying up of the front end, drivers compartment and rear cargo bed. Must be easier to paint this way? I reckon the resin wheels are better looking. BD supply two kinds the Silverline Blindo 12 spoke alloy and the 15 spoke alloy, three of each (two spares). As a rule of thumb the 12 spoke were earler I think, the 15 spoke later, and some WMIK’s can be seen with a mix of the two IIRC the 15 spoke on the rear. Smudge

There is a bit of flash, moulding plugs are by and large heavy, and the front stowage bin is marred with a huge air hole. Smudge

Andy The figures look ok...they post date my conversion but they;ll suffice (just don't tell anyone shhhhhhhhhhhhh ) I may swap one head for an Hornet one with beret, the other will have shemagh and goggles anyway. I detest painting eyes. Smudge

LOL! Everything was GREAT on the figures but the eyes... it was hardest part. One figure was so bad that I gave up and added googles instead. It felt like if I cheated... LOL You can see for yourself... You can see the right eye... Five or six attempts I gave up so I grabbed a spare goggles... LOL That's something you can share with the manufacturer as I don't mind if you want to use my feedback. But I will not hesitate to buy stowage sets from Black Dog as I have 4 or 5 in stash. LOL
