I'm going to finally start a diorama. Been meaning to do one for some time. So the BSC is a good chance to have a go at it. Starting with a couple of Miniart figures. I like their stuff. I went ahead and made some straps for the guns with Tamiya tape. A little filling in some of the gaps and I should be good to prime. I just taped the folks on their perch for now. How do you guys usually secure them for painting?

Eeh oop fella.......a couple of nice figs there bud , i think a lot of guys drill one of the feet out and attach a piece of rod glued into place...........this gives something to hold and then the rod is cut off and sanded smooth

Thanks guys.
Ya boots, I was thinking of going that root. If I use wood it wood be easy to drill a hole into. Maybe epoxy on the wood end and regular styrene glue on the figure end. I see some people use that tacky stuff. Would have to be somewhat strong tho I figure.

Thanks for that Dicky. Ya, I guess I will need a peg to secure these fellas to the base.
Well Bill, it will be a little out of the ordinary.

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out Matt! Already heading in the right direction! Yup, pin in the foot...if it is the right size to fit into your pin vice then you have a nice little holder whilst you paint! Leave the pin sticking out like you said for mounting!! I need to get my butt in gear and pick something to build for the SMA BCS!! Couple thoughts rolling around in this old head!!

Thanks for your thoughts Todd. There will be a few firsts for me here. For one I used Milliput for the first time last night on the seam of the figures. Not bad stuff but it wanted to dry out on me quick. Maybe the little mixed blob I wasn't using should have been kept in moist paper towel? I've never done figures before or a dio. But I have several ideas for dios so I hope all goes smoothly.
Yes Todd, get your project picked and get at it. The problem for me is always narrowing it down. I see someone build something I like and want to build one myself. "oh that's a cool tank I want to do one, oh look I dig that car I want to build a car, look, a diorama, I'd like to do one of those!".I guess I'm easily distracted.lol

like guys said I drill metal rod into their feet or where ever it meets the ground or base. Hope to see your diorama WIP soon!

Ya Bill, I got some more dancers. Well, the third one over looks like he is dancing anyway. These are US Marines that will take part in this diorama. I have to clean up a tad, specially around the neck. Then it's primer time.

I drill and pin mine with 1mm brass rod Matt and keep about 10mm protruding...I leave it in to assist mounting...by drilling a corresponding hole in the base it locates the figure and allows a good solid fixinghaving trimmed it to 5-6 mm after paint Figures look spiffing fella Exactly the same thing I do. I use cork lids to hold figs while painting. It's easy to put the brass rod into them and easy to remove.

Looks like the crew's expanding, got to have an audience for this one at a minimum to keep the dancers happy.

Thanks Deafpanzer. I think the two in the middle are convincing. The other two aren't bad either. But the Soviet guys might need a little fine tuning. We'll see.
