At On Track a couple of weeks ago,I picked up this little beauty.... Now at this stage I have to confess that I think the chap sold it for the wrong price, because I picked this up for £30,and if you look closely top right the price says £52.99. Anyway, last weekend I picked up a set of frillies to shoe this wee beastie with, and young Mr Paul H has kindly agreed to take the kit supplied indies off of my hands! I did make a start on this a couple of weeks ago,and got carried away, because I wasn't intending to post this here..,but this is where I'm at now... Now,the turret comes with a full interior, which I did build, but as this is going to be totally buttoned up,i didn't paint it.the gun lock, located just underneath the mantlet, the parts required have the lock deployed, and i wanted it folded up,and locked,so a bit of minor modification was necessary. Not too hard, cos I managed it! I realise this is another build that may well sit in the pending bay of the spray booth, but at least I'm building, and enjoying it,eh?

The box art had me fooled... barrel didn't look that long. But your build... WOW! That's pretty long!

Jeff,a few minor anomalies to overcome, mainly due to the fact the AMX 30 sprues are in the mix,and the suspension is slightly different between that and the AUF chassis, for obvious reasons....Also would have been nice to have the option of the gun in the travel/stowed position, which the parts supplied never gave. The turret interior looks the koalas krackers, with some good detail, but I'm not convinced a lot would be seen with the hatches open, except with the aid of an opthalmascope, although the side doors, and back hatches can be shown open,to be accurate you'd need chaps to show a replen,or at rest dio....No way,Jose...in my case. Andy,That barrel is a fair size mate! I was extremely lucky on Sunday, that Steve from Armour Models( www.armour-models.co.uk/products/index.html )had the frillies, and the barrel that I needed, because the kit supplied tracks were wrong for my version, and the 2 part barrel was like a ferkin banana when I finished with it! Bill,I can't deny I have had a bit of fun with this build so far,and I'm sure that there may be future Meng builds on the horizon,if they are as well done as this!(Theres me sounding like a ferkin expert! ) PS...They've started doing A/C you know?

Mr H...always a pleasure having you looking over me mate!! Lui,Paul,Pete,Yer right there,fellas!...Thatis a big chunk of Noisy wotsit, strapped to that ole box, ain't it?? Reason I'm here is a small update,if I may... As I alluded to in my previous post,I wanted to show this vehicle parked on the Gun park, which meant doing a couple of little tweaks to the barrel lock mechanism..... Bit of glue residue to tidy, but I achieved the task by trimming the 2 main parts,spring/actuator to length, and repositioning. From 3' away, she looks fine. I've added a few more bits and bobs,AND a teeny bit of bling, namely, the rest of the rear fittings of the hull, zorst shields, and cleaning rods on the turret.....Oh,Forgot to say before,it can be built with functional bouncy bits,if required! That's all on this fella at the mo,any abuse, comments good or bad, always welcome in this MC!!!(Still plugging away at the frillies, but that's ferkin boring!!! )

I just Googled 'functional bouncy bits' and yer'd be surprised what comes up!.....TBH I gave up scrolling down for Meng Auf 155mm Howitzer suspension, in fact, hardly any of the hits looked ANYTHING like AFV suspension! Probably for the best there Dicky, you know how fragile CB's constitution is these days!
