ValleyCon is on the 30th of this month, and AMPS is April 3-5th. That being said, I want to bring something. I've been going to ValleyCon since I was nine, and it'll be my first time at AMPS. So, that being said, I'm doing this: IMG_1982 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_1996 by mullinator7, on Flickr It's my old Panther, only rebooted a bit; rust on exhaust, color on periscopes, blackened gun muzzle, etc. The base for this just got a coat of slightly died plaster, but will end up thoroughly covered in mud, hence the title. IMG_2004 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2005 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2006 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2007 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2008 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2009 by mullinator7, on Flickr Figures are from Alpine, with one more on the way. Primed: IMG_2010 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2011 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2012 by mullinator7, on Flickr Tree is from The Scenic Factory, it's actually very tall. The tree is perfectly to scale with 1/35 figures, which after some consideration, and looking at the big pine tree in my back yard, makes it huge compared to them. Huge to the point that I'd have to stand away from my bench to get a picture. The tree isn't finished yet, I've just got to add some branches. Not a lot, as the tree will have been heavily battle damaged. So that's it for now! I've got 12 days... -Conor

Wow... I like what you've done with the Panther Conor! I want to do a whitewashed kitty kat and hope mine looks like this!
Nice choice of figures for your dio too. Hope we see more before you head off to the contest!

Thanks fellas. In all honesty I might have a bit more than 12 days if we count AMPS, but I'd love to have this in time for ValleyCon. I'm real glad I finally got a good scene to put the big cat in, it sure took long enough. @todd knowing me, it might be a WIP on Sunday but hopefully not a very noticeable one. Perhaps a thing here and there might still need work. First and foremost, a picture of the tree for Dicky: IMG_2065 by mullinator7, on Flickr Too close of a photo? Here's one from a distance: IMG_2014 by mullinator7, on Flickr It's literally just a 13 inch stick, but I'm working on it! Here's a pic of one of the branches: IMG_2064 by mullinator7, on Flickr It's a mix of dead branch and pumosa fern to give it a slightly more realistic look, and also so some appears dead. It won't be a fully branched tree, since a lot of it will be damaged. I've got smaller saplings I'm working on as well. Right now the best progress I've made is with my figures. I'm not going crazy with the eyes this time, just trying something different using washes. That, and if I try to replicate Calvin Tan's work, I won't finish in time for AMPS NEXT year... IMG_2071 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2070 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2063 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2062 by mullinator7, on Flickr This guy is new... The potential WIP figure for ValleyCon hahaha IMG_2061 by mullinator7, on Flickr Group shot.... IMG_2060 by mullinator7, on Flickr IMG_2054 by mullinator7, on Flickr The eyes on the Panther commander disgust me. I'm thinking I hit it with too much primer, but I don't like the look of them at all. Hoping the long brimmed cap hides that fiasco. I'm hoping I can finish the tree tonight and hopefully do some pants painting as well...but I gotta be up early for the St. Patrick's Day parade in Holyoke tomorrow D: Tick tock...time is running out! -Conor

Connor I remember seeing this at the show. Your pictures don't do it justice. It really is a nice bit of work. What are you slogging away at now? You know that Armorcon is only.... 70 days away, right?!

Thanks guys, come fall/winter I'll bring it outside to get a few photos in that sort of atmosphere. And as of now, it's a StuG III with a base from Joe Farina, coupled with a few figures. I've got enough photos to start a build log, so I'll have that up soon enough. I really wish the Armorcon theme wasn't Light Tanks, since I've got an AFV Club Stuart on deck and I really, really should wait until I have more room on the bench...

From the pictures a mighty nice build and great effort on the dio which really sets the whole thing off. From the comments the whole build exceeds the pictures so those of us who are not able to see it in the flesh are missing out.
