Shelf Queens Time to go! The Axis

Hey everyone! After a long time away from the bench I think it's time to pullup my bigboy pants and start slingin glue and paint to relieve the stress! Ok! My first offering is a triple threat of German wingies, followed by a three pronged attack by the Japanese. A RAF/FAA will be added somewhere inbetween.
Starting things out are Hasegawa's Bf109 G6 and Hs129 b2 had their cockpits started and in one sitting got the fuselage wrapped around both.(Sorry about no pics it was a rare day and the heat of the moment was hot!) Both cockpits have had the standard Eduard PE treatment with some drybrushed silver wear and tear. I noticed I forgot to do a dark wash, DUH! Gonna fix that! As with most Hasegawa kit the assembly was straight forward with a little of sanding at the wing and fuselage mating points.
Number three is an Fw190 by Eduard, I had started this one about two years ago and with the whole color scheme issue surrounding SG 4 FW's in Italy and not being able to find a definitive answer she was put off to the side. About two month ago I saw in Stromo Magazine(online) and saw a article on the 190's. The article said that the upper surfaces were more than likely painted over using Aeronautica Regina colors. Soooo Yep I going with that! The 190 was put away 3/4 built, so not much tell. Although on inspecting the cockpit I somehow missed putting the rudder pedals in. And as of this writing I can say with out a doubt that there are two pedals in the cockpit! Um.... just not sure were they finally adhered themselves to. With that said here are some pics.

Nice one Pete!!!! Don't it feel good when you get ripped into something on the bench just cos you want to,and not because you sorta feel obliged to,eh?...I've really got to start getting a lot more of the Eduard pit upgrades,if nothing else,as they really do make it easy to get a good pit looking great.

Thanks Dicky! Bad habit that sometimes works and other times I go crosseyed and have been known to grab the wrong model and spray it the wrong color! Oh and they're called cockpits or offices by us wingy type people.

Thanks Dupes! No just a bad habit that if one or two colors are the same on each kit, I only have to fill the AB once but have two kits sprayed. YES SIR! I will be there! Gonna be a good time! Are you going?

Hey everyone! Had a couple of good days and got some serious paint slinging done! I concentrated on the 109 and 190 for the moment. The 109 was sprayed with MM Acrylic RLM 74/75/76 with the molting pattern on the sides of the aircraft. I trying to go for a smaller pattern but my Krome does not like MM Acrylic very much, no matter what did to the pressure, or thinning/thickening and back again, the gun spit, clogged, sputtered and threwup! :hurl: :eh: :crazy: But I don't think it came too bad.
The 190 was sprayed Lifecolor RLM 76 with a homemade mix of Giallo Mimetico and Rotbraun with Verde scuro mimetico blotches. I decided to go with the spray over on the bulkencruz and swastika, gives it a different look. The balkencruz overspray came out nicely but the swastika's are alittle heavy almost can't see them. The base color lightened up more than I thought after spraying, was getting a scared it looked pinkish. :eh: But when i added the green, a little more of the red came out. Right! now I got some pics!

Hey folks! Moving right along here, gloss coat and decals have been adhered! Just waiting for them to dry so next gloss coat and a little bit of weathering can be done.

Thanks Andy! One of the things I love about German aircraft is you can have 10 of the type sitting on the shelf and you could build all 10 with a different camo pattern! Once I get a little more do on the F4 I'll be doing my HS 129 desert, more spots!

Nice progress on both MF. You're right about the shelf line-up...one thing the Germans were good at was dreaming up many variations in their camo patterns.

Thanks Bill! The 109 is the last in my stash, and of course I've seen some camo schemes I like and now want to get a couple more! IT NEVER ENDS!!!!!! But I like it!!!!

Thanks Dupes! The assembly line only works if you really know the kits you're working with. I try for the most part to keep it with in the same color combos, at least two kits, and a third to work on while the others are drying!

Yeah, the assembly line pretty much only helps with detail painting and weathering.
