However, the North American license NA-16/NA-26 under which CAC (Commonwealth Aircraft Company ) built Wirraway allows design modifications and Lawrence Wackett used whole wing of the aircraft , landing gear and tail unit a new fuselage to produce a single-seat fighter , the plane of the Commonwealth CA-12 , later called Boomerang MK I. tests revealed that the CA-12 Boomerang was basically caretente fault , easy to fly and highly maneuverable , Production immediately launched on the basis of an initial order for a first batch totals 150 aircraft in February 1942 . These series production aircraft were delivered to the units from 10 October onwards, and after an intense period of preparation with the pilots, who were sent to combat units . On April 4, 1943 , the first combat unit ( 84th Squadron) was declared operational in New Guinea. The initial series production continued until June of the same year and the Boomerang Mk I was followed by 95 aircraft of the Mk II series , which were slightly modified and designated as CA -13 .
