Brave man tackling this version of the Marder I Tony! It's still, after all these years, the only game in town for it so I suppose you had to sooner or later!

I'll be following with great interest Tony, I have the same kit in the stash. I figured I'd collect some AM for it before trying to tackle it.

It can use some AM BJ the plastic is pretty thick. I'm building as is just to get it out of the way and on the shelf. I've been waiting for one Tex but I can wait only so long you know. I'm not sure just how close to scale this kit is Leon but it will look enough like one to suit me I think. Thanks guys Tony lee

Ahhh, after all those "cushy" builds, you've got a challenge on your hands with this one!

Monday Update The 75mm gun is a little better quality than the rest of it so it's not all bad One benefit building this is it wakes up some of those grey matter cells you don't use very often. Thanks for tuning in folks Tony lee

WOW! The gun is as big as the hull itself... hope it doesn't flip over every time it fires!

How the feck did you manage to line up the running gear Tony ? Apart from the over sized 'sticks' that locate sprocket and idler there are absolutely no guides as to where any of it goes ! I marked it all out and still failed. You seem to have nailed it There's also no retaining clamps holding the leaf spring to the bogie in the model Mine is sat back in its box sulking and although I really want to complete it, its a challenge that can wait for now looking forward to progress Los

Los from the photos i've seen I couldn't tell how the spring bases were held in place, figured they were bolted to the bogie frame. So far as alinement I placed the spring stops and then eye balled the support roller spacing. Happy to hear you're feeling better. The wife and I have been under the weather for the past few weeks but nothing as bad as you. Thanks Tony lee

Nice progress! What Tracks did you use? They the kit track?
These are my favorites of the odd ball SPGs.
I haven't been able to find it, but when I was a kid, I saw a documentary on TV call "From Normandy to Berlin". It was all based off of George Stevens personal collection of color footage he took while over in NWE. One scene showed US GIs using a captured Lorain with the sig 33 shelling the German garrison on the island forts of Cherbourg Harbor.

Hi Tony I'll follow your build - I have a 75% completed shelf queen, stuck because I've never been able to find a convincing interior reference for where the radio is positioned (I think its to the side of the gun, facing rearwards). I'm also searching for good plans for the Sd Ah 33 trailer in the photo, as nobody makes one as far as I can see. The best model build I've come across to date is featured in the Japanese mag Panzer Graph! [Autumn 2007 issue] Good Luck KenL

Looking good, if anyone can make something from this it will be you.

Cheers Tony Not sure if you've seen these kits - AlBy of France’s all resin offering link and the multimedia MB Models link ? I found these first when I started searching on the tinterweb. It was only later I found out Ironside/RPM had made (attempted !) a plastic version I have found no period interior shots other than museum pieces. How about you ? Los

She's taking shape I need to fill those craters, grab handles and steps are way oversize. Hotchkiss and Lorraine Marder I comparison. They say a good chance of storms on the way for the next two or three days. It's that time of year to keep our eyes on the sky Tony lee

Looking good Tony! Those craters belong on the moon! Don't use up all your putty on them. Got to hand it to the German for creativity in ways to motorize the Pak 40 for sure.

Nice work, these old kits can be a challenge but really satisfying when tamed.
I have built the ironside version, and that really was a pig, Looks alright now though, just needs a paint job
