Oh what a day... Hanky, anyone?! When I was a teenager, I used to model planes, like most other male modellers (some say, they still do - weird!). Everybody started building planes or at least tanks, I guess. Due to some moves, other hobbies etc. I gave it up one day and specialized on figures, dioramas etc. When I visited my old hometown today, where some of my stuff is located that isnt needed right here, I had a look on something I could sell at Ebay or something. The old Manga collection for example. Im done with that. But my uncle gave me the hint taht in the 2nd floor of the old factory building where my stuff is located there would be a surprise. I didnt knew what he meant and then he showed me: Almost all planes from my very modelling past are still there. Dusty and some are incomplete but theyre still there. So I sat there for a while and felt something between irritated and amused - seeing all that models. And even some so long kits believed lost were there (anyone interested in a KangNam Su 27?! ) - even the famous model of a Fw 190 D-9 (Dragon, if I remember that right) was there - it landed on a heater cause someone asked "Is it able to fly?!". And the Academy P-47 "Eileen" and so forth. Most of the models are not completed or broken somehow, but I could make some pictures if you want to see them. PS: Can you count this as an "aquisition"?! If not, please move it in the pub or where else it belongs.

My first thought after reading your lines has been: No pics yet?
I envy you, none of my former life models has survived through time. I know they were close to rubbish even immediately after finishing them, but they'd be such a nice time travel...

Sue, I can make some pictures. But I have to travel back there first, and that can take some days maybe.

Nice walk through memory lane there Lucas! When I moved out to go to college, all of my 'younger days' models ended up in a giant funeral pyre in the back yard.

O.K., I'm so old I don't have an online sex tape but I do feature in some fairly raunchy cave paintings... Having been in the house for over half a century, there's stuff from my childhood still around (but inaccessible due to my not being able to get into the loft anymore). It's worse at my Aunt's place she's been there for over 80 years, there's stuff my late uncle had before he came of age and joined the RAF in WW2! If I can get enough dust off it, I'll try and get a photo of the old Merit model of a Cooper racing car he built - he was the one who got me into this model building lark... Edit: I found it, but the years have not been kind - it needs a full cleaning and restoration. Maybe one day... Cheers, M

Great memories I can tell from your words. That's what sparked my return to the hobby when I helped with my parent's move to Florida as we were packing at the old house I ran into a box of my old built models 20+ years ago.
