As you all probably know I tend to have a bit too much going on at once usually. What is one more? LOL!! In all seriousness, I am making headway at clearing the bench. But it also seems that I am not building for ME. Selfish? oh well!! LOL!! Just about everything being built or painted at the moment is for someone other than me. Not complaining, I brought it on myself really. So, I thought I would roll back into the real world and kind of work a bit here and there on something for myself and just the fine folks here on MHISC!! Project... T-34/76 of the Beutepanzer variety. The kit:Not wanting to waste too much of your time here at the moment...a while back and after getting together with Mr. T-34 (Steve Reid) at the Celticwerks Headquarters, I managed to pull together numerous bits and parts until I have everything I would need to build a Beute! I have most of the upper assembly complete at the moment. The wide variety of resin parts you see are from the casting wizards over at Celticwerks. The fenders and rear mud guards I made from brass shim stock I had lying around... After having a discussion with Steve a while back, this kit was slightly off on the drivers hatch, so I ended up moving the the hatch over a couple mm. Then there was the turret!

So today was semi-productive. I managed to work in some suspension work among other things.I started the upper hull and fender junk. Some quick and dirty brackets for the fenders. The springs and internal slide molds are from the Celticwerks Lair. You will see shortly why I used these verses the kit set up. All of the wheels are cleaned up and ready to go!! Last night I whipped up a nice set of Fruils I picked up for this one!! Now the reason as to the using of the separate springs. These items do not get seen typically and the kit parts are actually fin to use, but I wasted to articulate the suspension a little in the setting. With Steve's (CW) springs I can make the suspension movable...

The inner spring guide channel and springs are separate...these are the parts I got from Celticwerks. I glued the channels in place and slid the spring in from underneath. I applied small pieces of styrene card stock to block the hole after installation. In hindsight, I would have pulled several pens apart to steel the springs and slid these in first as this would allow some tension and push down the torsion springs. I am not worried about this as after the tank is set in the final stance, I will glue the swing arms in place. You can use the DML kits to do this but you would need to remove the spring to allow it to move since they are attached to the internal channel with the kit supplied parts.

So here we go! I was able to ket her legs set after installation of the dry fitting of the Fruils! I revisited some of the welds after looking at many pictures and talking with a few folks. And finally, I found a usable piece for starting the base and worked on some placement! I need to get back to working on little items like the brackets, toolboxes and such! I can also start some work on the base too I suppose! LOL!!

OH! You can NEVER have "too much going on"! And that's my motto! I like what your doing here as it has already given me an idea! I like the mixture of road wheels (as they REALLY DID do this) and the truck looks severely flatten too. Man... I see this as a serious medal winner for sure! Are you going to add a fatality (dead body) in there somewhere? Jeff

Not sure on the medals but will be fun to try just the same!! Maybe I can get this done for AMPS next yer in Indiana which I might be coming out to!! Thinking you might make it up there as well? LOL...I will have to give the DB some thought! We'll have to see how this unfolds!!

Todd
I dont remember you working quite this fast before your back issues, are you zooming now because you feel better or just too make it difficult for me to keep up with your superior workmanship?

Thanks Mark!! Copy what you like bortha'! All about the fun!! Thanks for the compliment Bones...but I think there might be some smoke and mirrors going on..LOL!! Even with the back issues, I can sit at the bench!! Less real work, more play! With 10 to 15 things going at any given time probably all I need to do is glue one piece on each a night and it looks like I have done a lot!!
