Some metal tracks and schurzen are on there way, the metal barrel is already in the pocket. A posting withouts pics... Naah! Next step, build something  Cheers!

Well some progress! I started yesterday and this is a real nice kit! Some errors in the instructions but it is not the first Stug i build I build the running gear and started with the upperhull because i need it to be prepared for the concrete armor. I made some damage on the fenders not to much because the schurzen will cover the sides. The suspension is workable (thnx for the tip Wouter)

Thnx Bill! some other pics. I made the concrete armor with putty, i sculped it in sevaral layers and made the stucture with a old brush and some water. I tried to make the structure smooth as possible and may sand it down a little bit more. I fitted the skirts and attach them as last when everything is painted etc.. One track link is removed from the tracks to give it the proper look as you can see by the missing skirt.

Just noticed the texture of concrete on the StuG... I have to say WOW! It looks spot on! Sorry if I missed that part... what did you use for the concrete add on armor?

yeah, agree, that concrete looks awesome. Are you going to add concrete to the cupola front as well? Must say, seeing you add this makes me want to try it
Cheers

Nice touch with the concrete in particular there Elco. Definitely adds to the character on this one. I've even seen some where the crew took tracks AND concrete and added them for protection...with the guide-horns sticking up out of the concrete...gives it a very 'reptilian' look.

Make no mistake, it's a very nice, clean work & build and I am not being negative about it all but I just never liked the concrete armor look on my beloveded StuGs. That and or the Sherman too, just don't like it as it destroys the vehicles original design and... it's beauty. I have one in progress right now... actually it's DML's StuH I am converting over with the cast mantlet, late schurzen and return rollers. It might look just like yours without the concrete. LOL But, after buying several more kits I may throw it all out the door and keep it as it came. But, I have set of Friuls for it but I am interested in the tracks you have here! Who makes 'em, where to get 'em and really... are they expensive? What makes them "easy"? Seeing a StuG build really get's me pumped up and have given this a 'like'! Jeff

Thnx Jeff, i feel ya about the concrete armor but i just had to build one Specialy a version with this type of swing schurzen. When al done it looks like a pumped up crazy veteran. The tracks are sold by the sockelshop in Germany. What make them easy is the assembly and no cleaning. You can find some pictures of the assembly in Wouters Stug's topic. The tracklinks have 2 pins that you need to bow.. that's it. In 30min max you have a set of 2 complete tracks. Privé is almost the same as the Friuls. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

great photo, found it a while ago. I sure want to give it a go one day, but not this time...as far as I'm aware the Langemarck StuGs didn't have concrete armor (well, not much evidence of that, but still Cheers
