Just wow! I've wanted to do something similar since I finished the Remora. Stunning work and something I'm blatantly going to steal! Sorry!

A) this build is ridiculously good.
B) is that liquid mask impervious to water? A lot of similar products suggest using only with enamels on top as water based paints will break down the mask. Is this good to go with water-based acrylics?

Thank you Sir John! LOL...have at it brotha!! I can only imagine what you might come up with!! Thank you Dupes...I appreciate the kindness! And yes, the liquid mask is acrylic, it dries extremely fast and once dry in impervious to I think gust about anything shy of the toothpick you use to start peeling it back. I would suggest for larger applications, and maybe what I could have done here, is to use the Liquid masking around all of the tricky spots, and once dry mask the easy, larger areas with tape...this would save on the "liquid GOLD" (amazing stuff really) allowing for easier removal afterwards!

I have to add since I was asked this, that this mask is water soluble so you can remove any mess ups or clean a brush if used, with just water. Marc, I applied the second masking on my tug and before it dried I sprayed the paint right over it, nothing happened. So like T said above, this IS liquid gold.....just happens to be blue..lol You can see in the pic below, the blue masking showing through the gray color. Sorry about hijacking the thread T.

Where is it from? The love for the art of destruction?? I guess it is because this stuff in more, far more interesting than the newer ones. And I must admit this here look perfect. Have read the novel from Tim Curran DEAD SEA and somehow I get those images in my mind and think about how I would tackle this theme. One word: Fabulous!!

Frank doing these types of models is a bit more fun because you can use your imagination and test new skills and techniques.

Scratch, second your answer! It is exactly what makes this art of modeling so intersting and also important. Because it captured the likeness of the real thing in the best possible way. And to tell the truth: fabric fresh isn´t everything but interesting. As long as you don´t build cars like a Bugatti Veyron (think about rusting it! HARHAR!!) everything in Life alters with time and looking at machines of all kind, when not handled with care, they become dirty, rusty and oily. So capturing this is THE cup of tea AND the piece of cake at the same time!
