Hi Nicusi, from humble beginnings you have turned this little model into a small gem, I too love brooding menace you have portrayed in the face.
Your ground work is very convincing, I love the use of the snow this sets the scene off very well.
I am looking forward to the final photographs.

Leon, Dennis, thank you for your kind words! It will be my second figurine finished, then back to the Normand and the bust of the Roman Legionary. Small progresses, it was my first experience with snow, surelly I'll have another projects with snow (it's just the season, isn't it?). Still a lot to learn. But a lot of fun!

Hi Nicolae! Can't wait to see this figure completed! Thanks for explaining on how you produced the snow effect, the reason I asked is that I have a really nice SS Grenadier in snow suit which I plan to paint sometime..perfect for a snowy base. I guess it's always a little bit of trial and error with new products. The snow looks very realistic even if yellowish here and there! Cheers, Shay

Nic and Kiwi, for snow maybe try out that fab marble powder they offer as snow in different scales. I have it from Hudson and Allen, but Andrea produces it, too. It is a real cool stuff and mixed with a little bit water it looked like clumped old snow, extem realsitic. Or fresh fallen, it depends on you.
Nic, btw, more pics please. As told, I love the face of the guy and the groundwork is very realistic!

Shay, I have an explanation about the yellowish tone.Somehow the AK Effect Fluid, which is an enamel, didn't fit very well with my Agama Satin Varnish. But I resolved the problem, it was more yellowish.
Frank, my snow powder (http://www.jadarhobby.pl/gale-force-gfs027-nieg-posypka-pudeko-p-33939.html) I assure you is very, very convincing. With some white glue works excellent. Tomorrow I hope to finnish. So I'll put the final photos soon.

Hi everybody! Not very pleased,I had to buy some magnifier lens, my eyes refuse to help me when working to 54 mm very important details such the eyes. But I had to put an end to my story. I put some Vallejo gloss on the snow, make the base (from Miniart, the same receipe as in the case of the Polish Hussar). So here it is my Teuton Brother embarked in so called Prussian Crusade, in the eve of Christmas 1247, after the destruction of a powerfull castle of the Pomeranians. Possibly member of the reinforcements that arrived with Henry III (better known as Henry the Illustrious/Heinrich der Erlauchte (c. 1215 – 15 February 1288), the Margrave of Meissen. In this scene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_III,_Margrave_of_Meissen#mediaviewer/File:Jindrich_zeny.jpg) you can notice on the shield the famous Rampant Lion with my colours, but I'm not sure about their position (it seems to me the red stripes were horizontal). I hope to show you better photos next weekend. Cheers, Nicolae

Fine job Nicusi! Excellent painting and a sweet base!! I would not worry too much about the Rampant Lion. I don't think it is a far stretch to the striped lion. Stripes were used on many things and the Lion appears in countless depiction in both red and white. There is a region in Germany using one on their flag now...Marburg-Biedenkopf? Your still loots pretty cool brother!! Looking forward to the final shots!!

Todd, Andy, you're too kind! There are still unperfect details and, as one of my friends says, if I don't want to start working on really good casting figurines, that's what I get. I will attack this year 75 mm figurines, it seems to me to be a more convenable scale.

Nic, exactly the way I see it. You get the best from a not so good sculpted figure and your paintjob enhances the given details to the max. The best point on the sculpt is the face, it is full of character and really unique. So do not worry about it, you dig all whats possible and presented on this cool base, the manufacturer could use your paint up as a presentation on the box. So you have finished is and I have to applause you for ending the work. Top!

Considering the scale and casting quality you mention, you did an outstanding job IMHO Nic. The Teuton would approve!
