Thanks a lot, guys! Painting small scale isn´t as hard as one might think as long as the details are sculpted well and the castings are excellent. For the military enthusiast, there is fantastic stuff in 1:72 from Minicraft. They do the best german WWII figures in that scale on the market. In my eyes that means. Thanks again!

Abner, will follow! These pics here were hosted by Imageshack and this plattform sucks in my eyes. It was before I discovered photobucket. I will paint a bit at the weekend, on this figs, too. So new pics will be made, and these one´s will be bigger of cause! Leon, thanks man! Glad you enjoy my little pals!

So, I am in the mood of painting and have thought about doing some small scale stuff again! This here is a figure sculpted by Raoul Garcia Latorre from Enigma, a so-called "Young Ripper" in 30mm scale. A one piece pewter cast with tons of details and a face only a mother could love. I treated him with several acrylic washes and am in the middle of finishing. There is much to do, but you can see how he will look when finished. The figure is a it weird, I mean, look at the victim on the stack. And wait till you see the Teddy Bear the Ripper has bound at his belt! Double weird!! Frank

Now that is an interesting piece! This one does lend itself to picking out some of that nice detailing in the flesh tones and his clothing!! Keep plugging away!!

Yap, the Enigma miniatures are far away from being boring, their detail is outstanding and they are sculpted with "hand", not prototyping. I guess, they have a real personality and the design is outstanding. Raoul have some more of those figs in this range, but I do not now exactly if they are discontinued or even available at the moment. I love them far more than the stuff which is on sales now but done digitally. These figures seem to me a bit lifeless and static (like the LifeResin soldiers. Top details all around but somehow not the way I would like them!) More paintjob will be executed on this figure in a few hours!
Thanks for stopping by, mate!

WOW what scale are these?

Thanks Desertrat! The scale is 30mm. 28mm is around 1:72, so they are a little big bigger. The figure is ca. half the size of a 54mm soldier.

Desertrat, you laugh, but I have noticed that Teddy Bear after I started painting. Haven´t seen him earlier (it is very little, but what a cool idea!)
Thanks Terry, cool you like small scale figues, too!

I have done some more paintings on the Young Ripper yesterday, layed in the first glazes of his clothing and have done some more detail paint. Note the Teddy Bear at his belt and the heartgem at the band near his crotch! Will continue on him this evening. Frank

Thanks Abner! Yesterday I did more layerings and washings and after that even more. I think these figures from Enigma are or were some of the best detailed small scale stuff around. Remember, they are only 30mm in height!

Say it this way: It depends almost on the figure! Is it really crisp, well detailed and has a good cast, painting is just a walk in the park. Good brushes, paint you are comfortable with and a little bit knowledge of the technics, and simsalabim! it merely paints itself, hehe! Yesterday, I did more layerings and the 1.000.000 $ question is, what will I do today? Right so, layerings, layerings, layerings. And till now I have no cool idea for a Base. Maybe I will do some kind of wood scene? Just dunno yet... Next work will involve more shading on the kilt, more working on some edges and doing some deep shadows here and there. Thanks for looking again! Frank

Thanks Nico! Btw, the pic here of the Ripper belongs to the other thread about this figure. I have mixed two threads with the same figure, argl!! And yes, I love that small scale stuff, have even more of it and will paint them one after another! The work of your friend is really good! Love the guy on the book, what a great base idea!! Is the book some kind of kit or did he sculpt it himself??
New pics of the little creep here next week, I have some paint done on him and continue this evening.
Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Gentlemen! But it is the helluva fun to paint such figures with sometimes incredible details. That makes it easier to lay the paint on. And the weirdness of this figure makes it so "attractive" for me. What means "Young Ripper" (his name is Guttrot)? That he is an infant? Gulp, I would love to paint his parents...

Thanks Lunaiko! It is always fun for me to paint such a little rascal, the more weird, the better! I would love to have this one in 54mm!
Desertrat, thanks Mate! And are you a mind reader?? Exactly the way I will do him, putting on a base of -maybe- raw wood with some kind of forest detail...
