The kit is the Tamiya, with some scratch and Fruil tracks, wheels idlers and drive sprockets from Bitzkrieg, pe from Eduard and other goodies.

Thanks, 'bone. So I was lurking on idf-modelling.com, seems like maybe I saw yours over there? I can't go back and check since they've apparently blocked access to it (idf-modelling) except for registered users, bummer.

Is my first post there, waited months to get their approvel to join.

Well, you must be one of the "cool kids" then. That 'site is a great source of info, but I don't play well with others.

And the freakin' million dollar question! The (somewhat) right color.

Gosh! You are about to open the can of worm?!?!?! Just like olive drab and panzer grey... paint fades or changes when or how the light hits the surface. There is no such a perfect answer to this.
Because I am fan of LifeColor and Vallejo/AK/MIG I would go for them then highlight with lighter tone by adding couple drops of white paint.
Love the work on the tarp... can't wait to see it painted!

Hmmm, IDF sand/gray: the perpetual question. So, 'bone, I have a question: I see the extended handles on the rear compartment open/close levers. Does that mean you're doing a -1B or Batash or -1Hybrid or whatever the up-dated Mk1 is called? And I like the figs, whose are they?

Hahaha, i ended up mixing Tamiya acrylics till i was satisfied, probably not 100% correct, but it looks about right. This whole build is one steep learning curve for me! A lot of "first" for me. The extended levers i saw first in a book about the Merk, probably not right for this version, i'm aiming for a pre ball&chain '82ish Lebanon version. The figs are Verlinden, the commander have a Hornet head. Not sure if they are keepers, face painting is not my cup of bourbon!

Looks like you've got the right color of paint in there somewhere MB, that's what counts! Nice progress on the Merk.

I like the figs, I say "go for it!" Color is tough, too. I've been criticized for being "too tan" before, but I've got pics.... Regarding what version/time period/mod level: It's like they say about anything IDF: never say never. I'm going for the same time period, 1982 pre ball and chain, pre anti-slip, not anxious to do either, but will have to on the Mk1B that's on the list.....

Update. Base color and decals are on. Tracks are on. Most of the stowage is in/on and have a color. Made a bracket for the .50. Some detail painting done. Some dry brushing done. Tonight i sprayed the gloss coat on. Now the fun begins. I've learned so much from forums like this one. Now its time to use all the new found knowledge. Pictures follow soon. Stay with me! ?
