Great job nicusi, man I love the cape, the iron, nice ! Thank you, Guy, too kind words, it's just my first bust. But I'll have to let it aside for one month, because I want to finish my two 54 mm projects almost finished. Cheers! Nicolae

Hi everybody! To almost 40° Celsius in the shadow, it really became difficult to work in my flat, despite its AC system. I'm now working to finish 3 projects, the Lokros hoplite (ready, just to put a label), the Norman Knight(painting the flag, attach it and put the figurine on a base) and this Roman bust from Linjo Models. The moustache and the beard not very well sculpted needed carefull atention. Also I worked to the face (the eyes, the eyebrows, the mouth), trying to create more contrast in some areas. Then I attacked the buttons and the tabs of the cloak. I'm not finishing yet, still some details and mistakes to correct. Cheers! Nicolae

Try to beat the heat Nic! He's coming along nicely, got to love the color variations you've gotten in the cloak, never an easy thing to do with a dark brown/cloth type of presentation.

Thank you, Leon and Bill! Bill, you have right, it was a hell of a work to make the cloak only by brushes. But the Scale75 colours from this set (http://www.scale75.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=55_59&product_id=132) were great! Cheers! Nicolae

Hi my friends! Let me present you C. Antonius Fronto, member of the famous Legio XIII Gemina (verified archeologically), who participated in campaigns against the Dacian king, Decebal. I chose to represent him during the second battle of Tapae in 101 AD. As you know, the battle was interrupted by a strong storm, so great challenge for me to make rain. I appealed to a glossy varnish from Agama and a Wet fluid from AK Interactive. I initially applied, controlled drops of AK wet fluid, trying to see the direction of water splashes on paenula (Roman cloak). Then I came overall with the Agama varnish lake. Someone who knows the historical details, can reproach the famous cloak was made of wool, so it would have look otherwise a soaked cloth. I take criticism! I'm not very happy with the result, but with a little practice, could become interesting. I worked also on the face, I think I pushed it to a level above. I hope you enjoy some photos. Have a good week! Nicu

Nice added historical touch Nic with the rain/weather added in. I'd say you pulled it off convincingly judging from the pics.

Bill, Leon, Todd, warm thanks for your kind. For my first bust, I hope to give it a decent face. Maybe he looked better before, but, you know, the modeller's need to look for new experiments and make something else then others. And I want a historically adequate version. So, if at Tapae was a terrible storm, let's catch something of it! Cheers, Nicolae

Just a small update, I had to remake the storm effect, this time without clear varnish from Agama, something didn't work right. A lot to do at the paenula (Roman cloak), a bit of weathering, then more contrast and after that a Scale 75 Red Leather to mitigate the differences and weathering effect. In order to enforce the presence of the storm, I add some leaves and branches, after I made again the Rain with Wet fluid from Ak Interactive. This is how my Roman legionary looks now. Cheers, Nicolae

Hi my friends, I know I dissapeared for some time, not in space, don't worry. But now I'm in complete mood to finish my projects and start working to new one. First, this Roman Legionary has arrived at the end of his journey. Not entirely satisfied with the result, I hope to the 2nd bust be more prepared. Enjoy the photos! Cheers, Nicolae
